Lovely beach restaurant - Edit
Great place to hang out in Bacalar, have lounges and a dock on the lagoon. Avocado tacos were delicious, has great guacamole and drinks too! Lots of options for dessert but quite expensive, as is the whole menu unfortunately.

Had a rice dish with vegetables on top. It was small and not super flavorful. Also quite pricy, but that's to be expected for a beach club. Location was huge and right on the water, so maybe a good option if you want lagoon access with bathrooms and wifi.

The second time we went here, on a quiet moment, some bored waiters were trying to angle some fish out of the Laguna. I don't eat animals and I certainly don't want to see them tortured. It's a pity, cause otherwise this place is very atmospheric and has a good number of vegan options.

This place is huge and beautiful and has a great Bacalar vibe. I got excited when I saw on the menu the word vegan which always a good sign. The menu is as big as the place and has a decent amount of items marked vegan. I noticed that a lot of the items marked vegan came with ranch. The ranch is not vegan. So be careful with the ones that are marked V.
Read moreThe food was ok. The guacamole was bland, I asked for salt and loaded it up, the avocado tacos were a good size but since they didn’t have ranch were bland and one note. Food was a 4 on a 1-10.
The service here was terrible. Like no waiter for 15 minutes after I sat down. Like 30 minutes for food which came all at once instead of app then entree. And now as I’m typing this I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes to find someone that I can flag down to cancel the beer that I ordered which has not come and get my check. The prospects are not good. Ha. Finally waved someone down. Now waiting for the check.
Maybe they are just short staffed or having an off night or maybe this is the way that they are. I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.

I have since gone back to La Playita and my experience was much much better the second time. I got a flatbread pizza which they substitute hummus for the cheese and it was very good. And it was very big too. Really nice size portion.

Great atmosphere, kind and helpful staff, water-side view, and delicious vegan gluten free options. I would rate them higher for their inclusivity which was rare in this location, but the app does not let me since it is not a fully vegan place. I was fully expecting to have to survive off guac and chips or hope for rice and bean tacos here but they actually had multiple vegan items included on the menu!
Read moreTheir limeade was so refreshing and delicious. I wasn’t very hungry when I came with family, so I got light things- the pear salad, and a side of fries. I was sure to try a dessert though.
There are other proper vegan meal options here :)

It is a fancy big place with a lot of tables on a beautiful location right at the lake. They have a lot of vegetarian and also some vegan options which they mark with a V. The staff is a little bit weird and it looks they are all over the place. They don’t pay much attention and are not very friendly. Also the ladies at the entrance had a weird vibe since they were giving eachother weird looks when we arrived. The food is surprisingly good but a little expensive. Maybe we should try it one more time during daytime.

The drinks are amazing, the restaurant overlooks the lagoon and is stunning at sunset. Highly recommend getting the organica vegan flatbread - feeds 3-4 people as a starter.

The place is beautiful as it’s directly by the lake. Price is fair and friendly waiters! The food especially the ceviche was really good, Asian salad was not my favourite and the pizza was big and good.

This place is a must visit IMO. There are enough vegan options that you could make two visits and share as a couple. We got the fried avo tacos, coconut ceviche, and papas bravas. All exceptional and really nice servers and atmosphere. Only con is it is a bit expensive.

Fried cauliflowers are excellent! Their vegan taco with a breaded avocado is also very good. The restaurant is in front of the lake and has an amazing view. Service is the best I have experienced in town. Good for lunch or dinner with margaritas. Went there twice.

Location is amazing, the food was really good. We shared the vegan basmati rice and veg- it was far from bog standard- was very good indeed and presented beautifully. Also the cauliflower bites and papas bravas- so good! Prices are a bit more expensive than other areas but the location makes it worth it

Pretty lakeside spot - Edit
The garden / lakeside patio is very atmospheric, with tables under a huge old tree, so definitely worth a visit. But it is pricey, and I didn’t feel drawn to swim, even though that’s part of the reason I went there. The walkway looked crowded and I just wasn’t sure how it would work. The food and drinks were good, but you do pay the price.

This is a classy & romantic restaurant with live music, candlelight & lagoon-side seating. It’s large and has many private garden-like alcoves that provide privacy. The food is spectacular & the service is very attentive.

After reading other reviews, we were hesitant, but we wished we would had gone here earlier. They must have redone the menu, because there are so many vegan options. Their breakfast menu had so many options, but we had come for lunch. We ended up getting the pesto sandwich and organico pizza, both were good. They had so many options it was hard to choose and we would have gone bs k if we had more time. Prices are reasonable and there is no minimum to swim off the dock.

Gave me the wrong meal, accidentally ate red meat. - Edit
I was pissed and emotional at the end of it. I asked for the eggplant milanesa. And he gave me the meat milanesa. I told him from the beginning, this doesn't look like my meal. It was missing the beans. Bit he kept referencing what I had by the menu names ( like I am supposed to know the menu names). He insisted it's what I ordered. I ate a bit of it. The meat was hard to distinguish it from not being eggplant until the middle. I then told them again. "I don't eat meat. I told you from the beginning this was the wrong meal and you kept forcing this. You insisted based on your wrong hearing." He didn't apologize. Instead the manager walks over and figures it out when I'm on the verge of tears. Got tacos after. I was honestly so mad.
