Don't miss this hidden gem! - Edit
La Casa De Gya is a unique and wonderful little restaurant! I would have given them five stars, but Happy Cow only offers up to four stars for restaurants that serve meat. It seems to me like they don't offer meat very often.
Read moreThere are a few tables inside, and also garden seating outdoors. Oaxaca is one of the best places in the world for food, and Gya offers an angle that is completely unique (and delicious). Her sushi and dumplings are especially good! Gya and her daughter are great to chat with (they speak English), and their restaurant feels a little like being invited into their home. It's up hill a little from the Zocalo, but is an easy walk from anywhere in el centro. They are very familiar with vegan cooking and are very aware when it comes to dietary restrictions. I'll be back next time I'm in town, for sure!
Pros: delicious, fresh, friendly
Cons: not as visible from the street as it could be
