Unexpectet vegan cake

There were two dishes labeled as vegan, chili sin carne and noodles with tomato sauce. It was just simple canteen food, but I was very grateful. I had the Chili and it was ok.
Then, unexpectedly, there was a vegan apple pie that I had to ask for.

Staff not really into their own ingredients

When asking for vegan options, staff lady said „no, we don’t offer that“ and when asked if the pasta contains eggs, she couldn’t answer that as well. We saw cucumber salad and tomato salad though. Sometimes I think they really have a problem with the word vegan here on this island and are not really willing to find something satisfying for their guests. A pity, because this center acts like an environmental institution - cooperating with WWF and all - but that usually ends at the cafeteria.. :-/

Pros: Well, pasta and tomato sauce as well as , some oil/vinegar based salads were vegan

Cons: Pasta didn’t taste great, was dry, Staff not really motivated to deal with vegans

Nice food option after a long bike ride

My partner and I biked from Binz to the Königsstuhl National Park Center. The ride was a bit longer than expected so it was nice to grab a bite in the park bistro. The option was simple: pasta with tomato sauce, but it was much appreciated as we were hungry and could grab a quick meal while we were visiting the cliffs.

Pros: Good value, Friendly staff

Cons: Could use more vegan options
