Another great ramen option! - Edit
Kikanbo opened this shop in Melbourne around 3 months ago, and so it’s often pretty busy. The queue does move quite quickly though.
Read moreThere are no physical menus, but the staff provided a QR code for me to browse the menu (https://ou.abacus.co/en/store/6450987/menu/). There are 2 vegetarian options listed — a ramen, and a fried vegetable dish. Upon enquiring about the label, the staff were able to confirm that they are, in fact, vegan. Cross contamination is a possibility, and they are labeled vegetarian out of caution.
The above issue aside, I found that the ramen was fantastic. Great assortment of vegetables, and a very flavourful broth. Spice level is customisable. Have not tried the vegetable dish yet. Each table has an individual QR code for ordering.
The restaurant itself is fairly small, with a mix of table and counter seating. Lots of oni imagery, and Japanese festival-style music. Customers are welcomed with the typical Japanese greeting, and it’s a nice touch.
Overall a nice option. Would have loved to see some tofu in the ramen dish, and some reusable chopsticks.
Pros: Good ramen broth, Staff understand what Vegan means
Cons: Only 2 dishes , There can be a queue
