Serves meat, vegan options available. Mexican fusion outside eatery. Reported you can find a few vegan options. Open Tue-Thu 11:00am-8:00pm, Fri-Sun 11:00am-9:00pm.
I ordered the tofu tacos with no crema and specifically specified that I do not eat any animal products. The tacos then came out drenched in the crema, so I had to wait twice as long as everyone else in my party to eat. The tacos themselves were decent once drenched in salsa and hot sauce.
I had been wanting to try this place for a while and I’m so glad I finally got to! I ordered the big mama burrito with tofu and my daughter got the Coulio tofu tacos ( order with the cilantro con cream) that came with rice and beans. Everything was so delicious! Most restaurants just cut up tofu out the pack and maybe pan fry this tofu was actually seasoned and was so good. The rice was also deliciously seasoned. We got a chips and salsa and you can definitely tell they make in house and it was so delicious but a little spicy for my daughter, I couldn’t stop eating it. It was the best salsa I’ve had in a long time even at Mexican restaurants. Definitely try to order online for pick up or try to go at non busier times but the food is worth it! They had a full staff working hard on the orders. I can’t wait to go again! It’s also not a far walk to the beach so can pick up and go eat on the beach!
Had the Big Momma burrito with veggies - very good! At least during busy times (middle of dinner hour in July), it was only possible to order in-person, and was about a 1-hour wait, so it may not be the most convenient option. Delicious food though, and clearly very popular!
These owners run Kai-Joe's, Cafe Koa, and Koko Cabana, and they're pretty much the only places to get vegan food around OKI and SP. They're so delicious and the owner Austin is so friendly. Don't go if you're in a rush, they're a tiny window service taco shack and their stuff is awesome so they're often busy. It's worth the wait!
They have a couple vegan options. I had the vegan version of the Big Momma burrito with Tofu and it was delicious. Oak Island has very few places with vegan options so I tried all I could. This burrito was the most filling meal I had!

Kai-Joes doesn't have an ocean view and doesn't serve beer. Are you thinking of somewhere else?
