Savoury muffin was great

The menu is quite big and lots of really interesting things. Everything we are was great. Onion muffin salad set was particularly delicious

Nice place to discover

deliciously unexpected

kupu was recommended to me by a friend from my days as an exchange student in rural yamaguchi.

i stopped by for lunch during a day trip to shunan city and had their genmai (brown rice) curry which came with an assortment of veggies, some pickled lotus root/carrot/onion, and a salad with a mustardy dressing. the curry sauce itself was a fusion of indian daal and the typical sweeter, stew-like japanese curry, which was satisfying in a warming, stick to your ribs kind of way.

i returned the same day for a cup of chai and a slice of their carrot cake, which was just as amazing (albeit a little dry).

kupu is easy to miss as it is on the first floor of a very, very small building by pia/ginza mall right outside tokuyama station, but it's absolutely worth a visit, and its location makes it a great choice for anyone who happens to be passing through yamaguchi. lovely interior, lovely staff, lovely food.
