Small vegetarian restaurant typical of Thailand, located just north of the Quan Ying shrine and the Coliseum shopping mall. No menu - just point to what you see and would like. Food is spicy. Also sells snacks for takeaway. Reported closed March 2022.

Buffet with lots of good choices! - Edit
Standard vegetarian buffet that had lots of choices including multiple curries. Rice 3 choices seemed to be 50 baht.

Typical jay buffet restaurant. Lots of options. Got there 30 minutes before closing and there was still plenty of food.

Good and cheap food - Edit
Restaurant totally vegan, with many options of food and desserts typical of Thailand, all very good and cheap. The staff are friendly and now one of them speaks a little English :)

Beautiful people and food - Edit
Love taking food here.. Its tasty, priceworthy and served with smile. Many varieties, lot green herbs, salates as enhancer and given for free. One of the best vegan places I've seen so far in Thailand.

Happy Cow map location is CORRECT, as of Dec. 2017 - Edit
This place is pretty good! Nothing to write home about, but tasty, nourishing food in a town without many options. I'm thankful for it, and happy to support such a place (even if it's not quite as good as Surat Vegetarian).
Read moreThe food quality was par for Thai jay buffets, but the selection was actually broader than I expected - maybe 12-15 dishes to choose from (as opposed to the usual half-dozen). I got three with no rice, and paid 40BHT.
Regarding the digs, I was totally comfortable here. This is definitely not one of those fancy new vegan places that cater to moneyed travelers. It's just a normal little shop in a normal, gritty city in a relatively poor part of the world. Great family vibe, too - laughing kids, chatting adults.

Pros: Solid vegan food in a town of limited choices, Awesome cost / quality, Nice family vibe

how to find: check photos - Edit
Not where HappyCow map points. Or probably moved. Anyway, one jaay restaurant is near, but seems to be open between 6.00-14.00.

Unexpectedly Pleasing - Edit
There are a couple of 'jey' (vegan) stores in Surat Thani and this one is the best. For a province like this where veggie food is hard to find this one is surprisingly good! It's typical Thai style, so expect buffet laid out food and just point to what you want. No English spoken. The selection is good though and it isn't just standard food there are a whole load of snacks and drinks and even salapao (steamed bun things.) This place will probably save the day for you in a city like this. Their opening hours are quite long and they're open every day. It's not exactly the nicest of places to sit but you can't be fussy. It will be full of Thais eating too which is always a good sign.
Read morePros: Cheap, All vegan, Plenty of options
Cons: Tatty place to sit

The first veg resto in Surat Thani - Edit
Veg restaurants do exist in Surat, but they have a low profile. This is the best of the lot. There is not a great variety of food on offer, nor is it gourmet quality, but it is filling, and, the price cannot be beat. A few dollars for a full meal.
Read morePros: Tasty, Cheap, Location
Cons: tad grotty, small range of food, irregular hours, sometimes not open
