tasty and friendly

Cretan and Mediterranean dishes on a wide terrace overlooking an olive grove.

About half the options are vegan on the menu and even more of the specials. The tomato balls and falafel were particularly yummy. No vegan dessert apart from fruit.

Very welcoming owner.

A great find in the gorgeous area around Plakias - well worth a decent number of days or weeks.

There are also rooms but we didn't see these. There are plenty of lovely places to stay locally whatever.

We thought we landed in heaven

We couldn't believe our luck. Our first night in Crete, in remote Plakias, we thought our chance of a vegan dinner was slim. Not only did we find Ifigenia, a lovely stroll from the village, but also, as we arrived, the hostess was just opening up a wonderful eclectic vegetarian buffet and, as it turned out, almost all vegan. Food delicious, very chilled out atmosphere, we felt like we were one of the locals.
Tip: I think Friday evening is buffet night, something well worth going out of your way for.

Pros: Delicious food, Pleanty of vegan options, Very friendly staff
