Best vegan meal we had in Funchal - Edit
If you fancy somewhere a bit smarter, this place was perfect, it specializes in quality fresh food, it is not cheap but I felt it was worth it in a city where vegan means pasta or risotto (I like both, but not every day for a fortnight).

We visited Horta for my Husbands birthday, and it was perfect for the occasion! Waiters were really friendly and knowledgeable about the vegan diet. Menu was clearly labelled, had quite a few options and the food was delicious and well presented! Highly recommend for a fancier meal! Would give 5 stars if I could.

Although this is not an entirely vegan restaurant, it felt like heaven for me because of the great variety of special and very delicious plant-based food and the nice atmosphere!

lots of well marked vegan options - Edit
this is a lovely spot down by the seafront. they have a very well marked menu showing lots of vegan (and gf) options, including a vegan dessert (rare in the area). i had the lentil curry, which was really tasty and a decent serving size. we only went here as the place we planned to go next door for pizza was fully booked but it was lovely. my only downside is that it was on the pricy side.

Delicious vegan food! - Edit
This restaurant had a great menu, with all of the vegan options clearly marked. They offered vegan starters, salads and mains, as well as a vegan dessert.
Read moreWe started with the falafel with salad and the cucumber & tofu salad. Both were delicious, and the portions generous. I had the lentil curry as a main, and my husband had the celeriac with barley risotto. The food was really flavourful and we enjoyed every bite!
The restaurant had a nice vibe. The service was ok, our server didn’t seem to like vegans that much, but maybe it was just an off night. Overall it was a great evening and I would recommend if you are in the area!
