Fab service and lots of options - Edit
We saw an advertisement in town for Hornox saying something like ‘where vegans and non vegans can eat together’ so we headed over. They have both vegan and veggie sections on the main menu, and things have been very clearly labelled vegan in the menu.
Read moreOur waitress was so lovely and even pointed out the dips with our bread had been made using vegan alternatives. The food was delicious! We went late on a Tuesday night and had to wait 30 mins for a table so I would recommend booking ahead if you can. Standard prices for Zermatt but portions are decent!
Pros: Super friendly staff who understand veganism, Great choice on the menu - inc starters and desert
Cons: Can be busy so would book if you can!

AMAZING VEGAN FOOD - Edit
LOVED this place!! I’m vegan but my fiancé is not. This place was perfect for both of us and had so many options for both of us to choose from which is so rare. I got the autumn salad which was so so good and refreshing as well as the vegan tofu bolognese burrito which was amazing! There were 6-7 mains available for vegans and dessert and starters too! Friendly staff, warm and inviting atmosphere. Best vegan food I’ve had so far in Switzerland! Would highly recommend😍🌱

Bold and important mix - Edit
HORNOX has a full side of vegan main courses to choose from.
Read moreThe two dishes we enjoyed were excellent.
The ambience is great and the service friendly.
For some vegans it might be a hindrance. Having to watch meat being celebrated at the neighbouring table. Personally, I think it's a brave and good step to introduce meat lovers to vegan cuisine.

If you must eat out in Zermatt - Edit
Started off with free soft and crusty bread rolls and vegan butter which were really delicious, and I really loved that vegan butter was the default option.
Read moreI wasnt feeling any of the appetisers so got the sweet potato and mushroom croquettes, hoping the sweet potato flavour wouldn't be too prominent. Unfortunately it was quite sweet, with a sweet romesco sauce.
The main meal was decent, with a very nicely grilled cauliflower (would have liked more seasoning/marinade on it). The mint yoghurt was quite thin and didn't suit the cauliflower. There was also a delicious curry couscous. I don't normally like couscous but this texture was not like normal couscous, smaller and less bouncy. It was sooo good. The rest of the plate was ok, not very appetising to eat.
The prices, as usual for Switzerland, were sooo expensive, and not worth it at all. 18 francs for the croquettes and 32 for the cauliflower.

Many vegan options - Edit
Although it‘s a grill restaurant there were almost as many vegan options as meat options. 80% of the appetizers are vegan optiona and there are 4 vegan main courses to pick from. The salad was great, however balsamic dressing would taste better with the berries than the tahin sauce. We ordered the cauliflower course and the aubergine course. We both prefered the aubergine course as it was more flavored😄

Underwhelming - Edit
We went for our last meal in Zermatt after reading so much about their vegan menu. The service didn't start out very friendly but got better as the meal went on. The Seaweed salad was delicious, though it's marked as vegan but you still have up ask for it without duck. Three of us got the cauliflower entree, which included (per the menu) two type of cauliflower, tabouleh , and baba ganoush. What we received: half a head of bland, unseasoned roasted cauliflower. The second type of cauliflower was plain raw, riced cauliflower. There was no tabouleh but it came with a tiny amount of what we assumed was applesauce. The baba ganoush was good.
Read moreThe last person in our party got the aubergine entree and it was also bland and mediocre.
It was a huge disappointment. There was a dessert that looked good but I was too afraid that it was going to be bad.
Pros: They do actually have vegan items., The Seaweed salad was great.
Cons: The entree items lacked flavor.

Even though this is a grill restaurant, they actually also have a focus on vegan food , there are 3 vegan starters , 4 mains and a couple of desserts too.
