Great Brunch Sandwich

Guru has tons of really amazing vegan donuts and even a few offerings on the brunch menu.

I had the garden sandwich. It was fantastic! Vegan egg, avocado, and all the flavorful things on a donut sandwich.

Pros: Variety of donuts (better than VooDoo), Vegan brunch options, Friendly service

Great doughnuts

They have a few vegan options daily, including fritters! They are pretty big and a good price point. Always stop in when I’m in town!

Fun donuts, good coffee, not all vegan

I saw 6 vegan donut choices but there may have been more. They also had a vegan donut sandwich with Impossible sausage (didn't try). Decent espresso with oat, almond, and coconut milk options. The spacious seating area was nice and this place generally had a good vibe.

Vegan Donuts, Yum!

Everyone loves a good donut! Guru generally has almost as many vegan options as non-vegan ones. Always clearly marked, regularly adding new flavors. You may just find yourself stuck on what to choose.

Pros: Great variety of vegan donut options

Cons: A little pricey

Vegan guru sammie is a must have.

Found this searching for vegan on uber eats.
We drove over with an hour to spare before closing. I got the vegan guru sammie which is a unglazed bismark donut with vegan sausage, vegan egg, vegan cheese, vegan house-made aioli sauce. It was delicious! They only have two vegan donuts left which was the hipsterberry (vegan raised donut topped with signature blackberry, blueberry and lavender glaze.) I didn’t care for the seeds in the glaze but it was good. The other was a pumpkin spice impossible donut. It was A GF cake donut. I wouldn’t recommend. Flavor and texture was not great.
Really cute shop. Bright and happy.

Pros: Good vegan options, Big open space, Good prices

Cons: GF option not the best

Unreliable

I used to love this place. The vegan Sammi was incredible, but for the last month or two they have been out of one vegan ingredient

Awesome vegan donuts & breakfast sammie

We’ve been going here for a long time and always enjoyed it. Most or at least half of their donuts are vegan. They have great avocado toast and recently started selling a vegan breakfast sandwich which comes on a donut bun 😋😋😋😋.

Pros: Lots of vegan donuts , Friendly

Several vegan options!

So glad we tried this place. The vegan sammie was bomb! Pretty sure it was just egg, and maybe field roast breakfast sausage and a cheese slice on vegan yeast donut, which is not frosted. Sooo good! We also got a few of the OGs…because everything else was sold out. We stopped by on a Sunday around noon. So go early if you want a variety.

Pros: lots of vegan choices

Cons: parking

Too sweet for me

Mostly vegetarian-friendly. This place is great if you like your donuts to be more like dessert, which I know many people are into but it's way too sweet for me. I like a more basic doughnut. However, if you like a sweet donut and a good sugar rush, they've got what you're looking for in a nice atmosphere and drinks like tea and coffee with w/plant-based milk to go with it.

Holy sweetness!

Disclaimer: I am not a sweets person. The maple bar was perfect, spot on. Ordered a half dozen sampler and tried several but could only take a bite of each they are so huge. Reminescent of my childhood when my dad would go pick up donuts on Saturday morning but I just can't do this sweet anymore. Would have probably been fine ordering just one and splitting it and having my sweet-tooth satisfied for the next 6 months.

Perfect donuts

Love love love these donuts. The staff was super helpful and inviting. The donuts were perfect and they had my favorite kind of ~*fancy*~ donut based off the Samoa Girl Scout cookie. Gonna go back and try some more ASAP!

Pros: Wonderful staff, Delicious donuts , Very clean and cute space!

So many vegan options!

Guru is a Boise staple, and one of the few places that offers vegan donuts. I love the flavors they have, and that it's a rotating menu so you can always try new things. Sometimes the flavors can be a little lacking, but they are usually a home run! Great space for hanging out while you eat, or easy to swing into while roaming downtown. The staff is always exceptional!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Rotating menu with fun flavors

Cons: Downtown, so parking can be tough, Flavors fall short every now and then

VEGAN TREATS!!

Dessert is by far my favorite meal, and this place always has vegan options. Not just one or two donuts, but a wide spread of options!
Their flavors rotate monthly, but they always have the delicious Alice in Wonderland, the dark chocolate bar, and the cinnamon sugar. I highly recommend stopping in and encourage your friends and family to have a super fluffy, sweet, vegan donut with you.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly staff, Cute interior

Cons: Unhealthy

Best donuts outside of NYC

The staff was efficient, helpful and friendly. The apple fritter is vegan every other month(why it’s not just vegan always I don’t know.. non vegans will still buy it) the flavors are creative and the donuts are raised! Not cake!!

Pros: Several vegan options , Friendly staff

Donuts!!!

I tried the salted chocolate bar, blackberry lime, alice in wonderland (vanilla dipped in sprinkles), and spring breaker (filled with coconut cream topped with a pineapple glaze). The chocolate flavor was by far my favorite. Their vegan donuts are limited to raised donuts which isn't my preference. I wish they had traditional cake donuts rather than always changing up the flavors.

DISHONEST ABOUT DONUTS BEING VEGAN

Once again I caught Guru Donuts being dishonest in labeling and marketing some of their donuts as vegan.

A few years back they admitted they were using non-vegan (which is made using bone char to purify the sugar) confectioners sugar in their donuts and I told them of a local source for organic vegan sugar in which they began using. But recently I inquired about their sugar and they admitted that even though they are labeled and marketed as such their donuts weren't actually vegan because they were not using organic vegan confectioners sugar. Even the sprinkles on the donuts labeled vegan are not vegan because they use Carmine, which is made from beetles, as coloring.

Vegan is vegan and using non-vegan ingredients nullifies any food being vegan. If they want to continue using non-vegan ingredients then they should stop labeling and marketing their donuts as vegan.

Good donuts, good coffee

In addition to delightful donuts (we had the hipster berry and Cinderella) the coffee was good too. The barista didn’t burn the almond milk and the espresso shot was well pulled. Plus the atmosphere is really cool, a nice place to get some work done.

Pros: Good atmosphere, Good coffee, Good donuts

Only donuts I’ll eat

I don’t eat sweets very often but when it was time to get married we had guru donuts for our wedding “cake.” Yeah that’s how good their vegan donuts are.
