The Stranger’s EverOut recently published a list of fave teriyaki shops + the lifelong vegetarian in the group claimed this is the only good tofu teriyaki in Seattle. Wrong! I wouldn’t even say it’s the best, but yes, it’s good.
Read moreThey’ve altered recipes so some of the sides are no longer vegan, but there’s still a decent amount of options. I liked the beet salad. I wished the dressing on the bok choy was thick enough to stick.
I’m surprised a couple reviewers got spoiled tofu bc they’ve only received 1 ding on health inspections since they opened in 2020. I searched the other 1.6K reviews on the internet + found 1 other complaint about sour/off-tasting tofu, so it seems they were just incredibly unlucky.

Simply the best - Edit
My favorite restaurant in all of Seattle, although it's pick-up only (no dining in.) The macaroni salad is vegetarian (not vegan due to the mayo) and insanely good. Their cauliflower and tofu entree is very tasty & the plate comes with 2 sides (I usually get 2 mac salads but their beet salad is also quite good.)
Read morePros: Very tasty, Great prices, Great portions
Cons: Doesn't have a dining in option (pick-up only), Needs more vegan sides

Really disgusting tofu and vinegar obsession - Edit
The tofu I had here tasted like it was going bad. If you've ever had old tofu, it becomes sour. That's what the inside of the tofu tasted like.
Read moreThe teriyaki sauce was way too sweet.
Mac salad seemed to have a bunch of vinegar in it.
I'm Japanese and grew up in Hawaii. Also lived here in the PNW having teriyaki for decades and this place is really gross. So disappointing.
Cons: Tofu is old, Sauce is too sweet, Mac salad tastes like vinegar

Hit the spot! - Edit
I got the tofu bowl - the tofu was battered and crispy in the best possible way! It came with bok choy that was yummy too. On top of brown rice (white was an option too) and covered in delicious teriyaki sauce. I didn’t ask if any of the sides were vegan. That one delicious menu item was all I needed!
Read moreIt did come with extra sauce and I did dump the whole container on my bowl before even taking a bite (because sauce!) it was too much. Next time I will use at least a tiny bit of restraint.

Easy go-to - Edit
Our go-to is the Sesame Tofu and Cauliflower. Always fried perfectly and the glaze/sauce is flavorful with the perfect amount of spice to it, just a little bit. My partner and I will grab Grillbird roughly every other month and will share the dish between the both of us. We’ll make the side that comes with the Sesame Tofu and Cauliflower all cabbage and add the vegan dressing.

Worst tofu - Edit
I had their tofu almost 2 months ago and it still haunts me. It was not pressed or seasoned and it was barely cooked with a sour aftertaste. I’ve been veg for 12 years and it’s the worst tofu I’ve ever had.
Read morePros: Spring rolls are good.
Cons: Bad tofu
