I visit Edinburgh quite often and was very pleased to find Grassroots. We had some fresh green juice and an epic meal! Seitan wraps were awesome and the raw veggeti dish was superb! Loads more to try so will definitely be going back here soon!

Food you could die for! - Edit
Great introduction to raw vegan food with the delicious raw zucchini lasagne. Definitely looking at introducing more raw vegan food into my diet. The raw cheesecake puddings are to die for. All of this with a welcoming and chilled out atmosphere makes it a great place to hang out and eat amazing vegan food with the added bonus of being able to bring Snoopy the dog along as well.

Great vegan cafe with a lovely chilled out vibe and fantastic food. Staff are lovely and very welcoming and I love the fact that pooches are welcome too. Currently on a mission to sample every dish on the menu. The regular hot chocolate pudding with vegan ice cream is amazing.

Really ace - Edit
Food here is sooo good, and really decent prices! I'd seen the sign for this place ages ago but just assumed it was a health food shop (and not a cafe) so never went in until recently. So far I've tried the three different 'veggetti' dishes - you get a massive portion and the sauces are AMAZING! Fresh and really filling. When I ordered it first was expecting a small salad sort of thing that is healthy but maybe not especially tasty or filling, how wrong. Now addicted. I've tried the Red Rush juice and the banana caramel iced latte (both excellent) and they also stock ace raw cheesecakes from Keyk. The two owners are really friendly and helpful, and there are also alot of vegan magazines lying about for customers to read which is nice, informative inspiration if you are attempting to go vegan.... I love this place!

Plan a visit! - Edit
Would thoroughly recommend a visit to this charming cafe, irrespective of whether you are vegetarian / vegan or non- veggie. The food is delicious and home made, and is proof that healthy food can taste amazing and leave you feeling completely satisfied. The seitan wraps and raw desserts are particularly good . For those who seek traditional comfort foods, there are a selection of tasty pies, and donuts,. and try to leave enough room for the indulgent hot chocolate pudding! The pricing also provides great value. There are some great eco-friendly items for sale including travel mugs and sustainable Corkor bags, and a refrigerated section which includes Vegusto cheeses and deli slices which make a useful filling for rolls, either for work lunches or if visiting the city and planning day excursions . The proprietors are lovely and always make you feel welcome. Once you visit, you will want to come back!

Lovely cafe - Edit
I've visited a few times, most recently for a boardgames night that Grassroots hosts, which shows a commitment to the vegan community in Edinburgh. The owners are very welcoming, and remembered me from previous visits, even though it's been a while since I was in. The food I've had at various times has always been very nice and portions are generous. During my last visit I selected their hot chocolate pudding, which was delicious. After I ordered it, 2 or 3 others couldn't resist getting one of their own, and we were all very impressed.

Great choice and friendly service - Edit
I live close to Grassroots and am a regular visitor. I think I've tried everything on the menu and would honestly struggle to pick a favourite, as it's all incredibly tasty and freshly-made. The ciabattas in particularly are huge and so filling - perfect for lunch to keep you going all day. The sausage rolls are amazing, as is the hot chocolate pudding.
Read moreThe owners are really friendly and happy to help in any way they can, eg taking orders in advance to be ready for collection at a particular time. The cafe is really nicely decorated with great art on the walls and an good range of items for sale in the shop, both in terms of food and non-food goods.
Whether you live in Edinburgh or are just visiting, I highly recommend Grassroots - You won't be disappointed...
Pros: Great choice, Excellent service, All vegan

A highly recommended place for all vegans who want to visit one of the best animal friendly places in Edinburgh!
Pros: Tasty food and other vegan things to buy, absolutely cosy place, fair prices, really friendly staff,

Amazing vegan food. All home made and delicious. - Edit
This is a really good little vegan cafe near Toll Cross and the Meadows. They have a massive variety of vegan food, so you are sure to find something whatever mood your in. From raw pasta, taco's and cheese cakes, to 'meat' pies, BBQ 'chicken' sandwiches, doughnuts and cakes.
Read moreThey make their own seitan!! Their chicken style seitan BBQ sandwich is amazing! And I also had a turkey and stuffing style seitan sandwich with hash browns and cranberry sauce at christmas time.
My favorite thing on the menu is the HOT CHOCOLATE PUDDING. Its a made to order chocolate sponge mug cake with homemade caramel or chocolate sauce in the bottom, with Booja Booja ice-cream and chocolate sauce on top... and for only £3.50. Its seriously decadent!!
They also sell Considerit doughnuts... nuff said.
On a side note they are also don't give you any single use plastics and sell lots of environmental and vegan products like bamboo toothbrushes, hand crocheted 100% cotton re-usable face wipes, bamboo coffee cups and cork bags and accessories.
To sum up... I would recommend!
Your welcome.
Pros: Decent portions, Homemade, No plastic straws or single-use plastic

Favourite Vegan Place - Edit
I absolutely love this place and it is currently my favourite vegan place in Edinburgh! I've been here many times and every time the food has been amazing. Today i tired the falafel wrap with spicy sause and it was simply delicious. The food is great quality, very yummy and the prices are very good. Quite cheap for what you get. I have also had the raw dishes and they have been the best thing ever! Only place in town that you can get such good raw food that it's not just salad. I've had veggetti bolognese, tacos and zucchini lasagne! I can't reccomend them enough!😍 Such a treat, especially for foodies. I also love the place as in the atmosphere and the owners are such lovely people. They are doing beautiful job with this place!
