I’ll Be Seeing You A-Chen - Edit
Never can it be said that I need an excuse to indulge in an outrageous banquet, but with the dawning of the new Lunar Year, I was provided with one, nonetheless.
Read moreWhile the authenticity of the Chinese food that I have been privy to might well be questionable, what isn’t in doubt is my affection for it. My love affair for this cuisine has been longstanding, and though there may have been new ones that have vied for contention, it still holds a special place in my heart. Sadly, plant-based purveyors of this most beloved foodstuff are in short supply in the desert, so when I discovered the range of options available here, I was almost frenzied in my approach to ordering.
As luck would have it, my crazed, lust-filled requisition of dishes massively paid dividends. I can genuinely say that, based solely on taste alone, none of the dishes was a disappointment. My only gripe came from the fact that I wished the portion of (delectable) spring rolls was bigger. That’s it. My insatiable greed is responsible for the minor quibble in what was an incredible display. Rife with textures and packed with punchy flavours, every single offering was clearly distinguishable as what it promised to be and more. Selecting favourites was no easy task, but I found myself most drawn to the ginger & spring onion, as well as the Chinese curry.
Perhaps the only other aspect that is worth mentioning is that this is a restaurant that is not shy with its use of chillies. The liberal application of these fiery berries was almost ubiquitous across all plates – not personally an issue, but better to forewarn so there are no surprises for those who aren’t as enamoured by spice.
The question as to whether or not I will be dipping into this delicious, metaphorical well again is moot: unequivocally, yes.
