Super good and super nice - Edit
I had an amazing dinner here. They have a separate vegetarian/vegan menu you can ask for. The staff speaks amazing English, is super nice and also very knowledgeable about they're good and vegetarian/vegan requirements. They double checked with me if egg in the tempura is okay (yes) and if dashi would be okay (no). They brought a special vegetarian soy sauce and reiterated the soba was vegetarian when I was served. It made me feel very safe, as I sometimes get anxious about certain foods not actually being vegetarian.
Read moreThe food was delicious and the yuzu ice tea I had was absolutely amazing!!
I got a small hot tea on the house too. They were just so so nice.
The atmosphere is also fantastic and there's a river view.
It's easy to find, as it's right by Exit 4 of the asakusa station.
I very much recommend this place!
Pros: The staff, The food, The clarity

Very Good! Super Inclusive - Edit
The staff here were very nice—they had a full separate vegan/vegetarian menu, and honestly most things on it were vegan. We also saw them offer someone a halal menu, so they seem very accommodating generally! We got the kake soba (soba noodles in hot broth), grilled shishito, assorted tempura, & yam hand rolls and avocado hand rolls. Would recommend all appetizers (yam wasn’t our thing but glad we tried it) and the kake soba broth was very flavorful. Would also recommend the pineapple non-alcoholic drink & the homemade ginger ale—both great! Overall friendly staff, reasonably priced, sizeable vegan selection, and great view of the river!

Tasty vegan tempura and extensive veggie/vegan menu - Edit
A lovely riverside spot with a good deal of vegan choices on a vegetarian menu (request this when seated). I had the vegan tempura rice bowl which was served with miso and pickles. We also ordered the cold noodles which were tasty too.

Great vegan-friendly choice - Edit
Vegan menu available, just ask. We were served by Kenji, who was very professional & had good tips for vegan choices. Food was great, and the atmosphere top-notch. Tempura was especially tasty.

Great meal - Edit
Wonderful service with vegan and vegetarian options. The tempura was delicious. I had the assorted vegetable tempura and my husband had the shrimp. He said it was the best tempura he ever had. The service was excellent. The view upstairs is very nice.

Lots of Vegan Options - Edit
A great place with a nice view, and lots of vegan options. Got a variety of dishes that we didn’t at any other restaurant we visited throughout Japan, even those that are completely vegan.

Good option with Omni friends - Edit
Gonpachi is an easy place to take your Omni friends that aren’t interested In explicitly vegan places or a good way to suggest a compromise for a group meal.
Read moreThere is a limited vegan menu which makes things easier. I had the Soba, which fine. Nothing remarkable, but still enjoyable.
Be careful with ordering any specials, even if they seem vegan. Recommend double checking with staff. I ordered the grilled eggplant special (because how could this not be vegan right?) and it arrived with a whole fish of Bonito flakes in it. The staff were polite and prepared me a new one without Bonito, but I still wouldn’t recommend that special as the taste was strange and underwhelming.

No sushi at this location - Edit
I was really excited to try Gonpachi's vegan sushi and then I realised not all the Gonpachi restaurants have the same menu.
Read moreThis small restaurant has an open grill in the centre which made the atmosphere really hot and smoky. The service was really bad but possibly because they were understaffed that night. I was super uncomfortable so didn't order anything, just left. But writing this post as a warning to others not to come here if you were expecting sushi.

Nice dinner spot - Edit
As recommended by other users, we asked for the vegetarian menu when we got there. The kitchen was about to get closed for that day but the staff was very friendly and took our order anyway. I chose the cold Soba noodles but it did not really hit the spot for me. Besides that, the cocktails we ordered were great.

Decent alternative - Edit
We were eagerly searching for something to eat on our first evening in Tokyo (a Monday, on which a lot of restaurants were closes). Luckily we found Gonpachi! They have separate vegetarian menu with clearly labelled vegan options.
Read moreI can recommend the soba set with tempura. It’s not especially cheap and maybe not the most special or delicious dish in town but absolutely good enough to give it a try.
A small warning, if you don’t like the smell of meat being roasted next to you, you might consider another place. There is an open kitchen in there.
Pros: Vegetarian menu
Cons: Not especially cheap
