Great vegan menu - Edit
Great vegan menu with lots of vegan options. Very small restaurant where you can sit on tatami mats with some views of the river. Lots of options, we settled on mochi and corn okonomiyaki. They were delicious, the mochi almost gave it a cheese style pull and staff even gave us vegan sauces for our meal. Absolutely amazing food.

Read moreBisogna arrivare presto. Nel mio caso, sono arrivata alle 18:50 ma ho dovuto aspettare fino alle 19:30. Ho ordinato l'okonomiyaki con la carne di soia. La carne era davvero poca, per lo più era un mix di verdure compattate. Mancava il sale e quello sul tavolo aveva i fori sporchi e non funzionava.
Buono, avevo fame, ma non so se ci tornerei.

Great spot with vegan options. I expected more of a wait based on other reviews but we got there just after 5 and waited maybe 20 minutes to be seated. There is limited waiting space indoors and when we left there was definitely more of a line but it was excellent. The ambiance was great, classic zabuton seating on the ground with pillows around a hot plate and they ask you to take off your shoes at the door. For the vegan item they brought out special vegan mayo and sweet sauce as well! I got the vegan soy meat okonomiyaki and it was excellent! Great place to go with meat eater friends as well.

Long Wait, Okay Food - Edit
Kyoto has so many great vegan friendly places, I would really not waste time waiting at this place. When you arrive you have to take off your shoes and wait in a cramped room for a long time. Feels very touristy and the vegan okonomiyaki was a letdown (but maybe just not my thing). I appreciate them having vegan options though, so I'm giving 3 stars.

Joli restaurant près de la rivière. Très touristique alors il faut manger rapidement. L'okonomiyaki vegan est bon mais sans plus. Deux sauces végans spécialement pour ceux qui le commandent, c'est une belle attention!

Had to queue a long time, 90 minutes after we lined up at 1900. But it was worth the wait. Finally I had vegan okonomiyaki. We sat at the "bar" with a kitchen view, which was a nice experience. The okonomiyaki was also very filling.

Ordered the okonomiyaki with soy meat. It’s shockingly flavorless. It’s just a mushy soggy batter with flavorless cabbage. The batter tastes like nothing. The cabbage is just filler. The soy meat is pvt that was just heated with water. Then some sweet sauce on top. The thing is so flavorless that even the grill doesn’t help. So far the worst food I’ve had in Japan.

Read moreEs war sehr lecker! Dazu gab es sogar vegane Mayo. Die Portion war groß und war es den Preis wert.
Man sitzt quasi wie in einem kleinem Wohnzimmer auf Kissen und hat vor sich eine Wärmeplatte. Es war toll!
Schuhe müssen vor Eintritt ausgezogen werden.

Waren auch dieses Mal wieder hier essen und es war genauso lecker wie letztes Jahr.
Atmosphäre ist eine 10/10 und das Okonomiyaki könnte ich jeden Tag essen 😋
Warteschlange ist mittlerweile länger geworden, daher am besten schon um 16:30 Uhr anstellen wenn man schnell dran möchte.
Oder man genießt eben das authentische Wartezimmer für etwas länger.

Didn’t see the “line up early” comment here and arrived at 5, had a line up of about 15-20 in front of us. We made it in, sat for about 30 before getting in and getting the vegan options. Got the noodles and 3 other options which was a good amount of food for a family of 4. They have a small space but they move through people quickly, taking your order from the waiting area so food arrives promptly after sitting.

Great little place but get there early as it’s popular. We are out of season, arrived at 730 and were the last people accepted in the Q. Last orders are 930.

Would def recommend.
They call it a Japanese pizza and it def feels a bit of a “dirty” meal, would be great hangover food!
