Not great - Edit
Wasn't impressed at all.
Read moreFor the breakfast, they had no sausage, and no haggis. Our breakfast both mornings was pathetic. They didn't even have decaf coffee (despite having it in the rooms?! I don't understand why they didn't go and grab a sachet). I'd brought coffee with me luckily so I brought it down each morning 😑. The service was rubbish, they didn't bring us toast, and when we asked about why the haggis etc wasn't on the plate, the girl went away and literally just didn't come back 🤷♀️ No alternative milks.
We only had dinner in the restaurant on one of our nights and thank god, cos 17 quid for the most basic burger I've ever had in my life is not great. Greek salad was nice but mega basic. My husband spent a lot on the stay as a gift to me so it was pretty disappointing. At least the grounds and surroundings are beautiful! There are definitely not 3 options for each course. Burger or Greek salad, that's it, no desserts.

Good and lovely place to sit. - Edit
Edit. They had soy milk when I went for afternoon tea a second time.
Read moreThe breakfast is very expensive for what it is but it is good. Fry up with veggie haggis, sausage, beans, mushrooms, toast. They had no plant milks available for tea and coffee despite booking our vegan afternoon tea in advance. They told us there was no butter at breakfast and brought the scones out with just jam, when we asked if we could have the same butter that was used to bake the vegan scones with (flora) they did bring some out. The food was good but the waiting staff weren't really thinking outside the box with details like butter and plant milk (didn't offer to get any between breakfast and afternoon tea despite pre booking for example). Definitely worth going to but you'll need to be explicit.
Scones were freshly baked and still warm, some of the better ones I've had.

Blandest meal I’ve eaten - Edit
Had three-courses consisting of a salsify and pak choi starter, veg tart main and pineapple tarts au tan with coconut vegan ice-cream. Everything was bland apart from the ice-cream.
