Very friendly family buffet & restaurant

The owner and his family not only refused to let me pay both times I ate here for dinner and lunch; they also gave me some of the open-faced tofu baozi that they ate for dinner. Zhongwei may be a much bigger, more tourist-friendly city, but vegans and vegetarians should stay in Zhongning for better food! The menu has lots of options & the buffet has unique dishes you won't find anywhere else in China or the world. If you're in Zhongwei for the desert scenery of Shapotou, Zhongning is a convenient hour away by bus (or less by train) for great vegan food. I didn't test the family's English, but they did mention having family members working in the USA and would surely be glad to help foreigners choose something tasty.

Pros: Very friendly, nice atmosphere in unexpected place, Dishes offer wide variety of veggies & protein, Inexpensive & convenient

Cons: I failed to insist on paying for my meals.
