great flavor - Edit
I love this type of food. Big on flavor and in portions this is the place to go to when you're hungry. Delivery or pick up only at this time. A sign at the door indicated. Plenty of parking as it's tucked a bit in the back of a strip mall. Staff was friendly. What more can you ask for?

great vegan options - Edit
Ran across Funmi's on HappyCow yesterday, and I can't believe it's the first time I've heard of them as a vegan option in Louisville! Their vegan-friendly menu is extensive, well-marked, and diverse. Ordered take-out (an appetizer sampler and an entree) and everything was delicious. I appreciate that the vegan options are complete, whole-foods-based meals. Will definitely be back there again!

Tons of flavor! - Edit
My first stop in Louisville! As of writing this (July 2021), the restaurant is still curbside - they take orders via phone and all the usual apps. Vegan options are clearly labeled and there are plenty! I had the Chef’s specialty rice with tofu - delicious and filled with unique flavors/spices.

Go for the food, not the atmosphere - Edit
Really yummy food, served in a space that feels like a waiting room for your dentist. :-)
Read moreWe don’t think there’s anything like it in Louisville. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and understanding about the vegan options—there’s a separate menu that makes it easy. We ordered the dishes medium spicy and found them to be just that, could be a little hotter but pretty much right on the money. Loved all the flavors and interesting ingredients.
We’ve only been once but plan to go back soon.
Pros: Flavors you can’t find elsewhere in Louisville
Cons: Strip mall aesthetics

Vegan options even my 6 year old loved! - Edit
Happy we found this in our neighborhood. Pleasant cafe tucked away behind Buckhead's. My young one loved the Sambusas. We had several vegan apps and vegan stew for dinner.

Treat people well...serve them amazing food. - Edit
This is the slogan on the kitchen door at Funmi's. And, we both felt, on the Saturday night we went, that we were fed well. I haven't had plantain that was prepared as well as at Funmi's. Very lightly fried, and perfectly ripe, with the Mrs. C special it was just everything you would want for a home cooked meal. The African brown beans were hearty, a nice combo with the kale stew.
Read moreit was surprising how the food is so outstanding, yet the atmosphere is so similar to any ethnic you takey/carry-out place.
TVs showing music videos, can't-remember-what-they looked-like tables, mass produced art on the walls. Really?
Nigerian cooking with all those wonderful spices, textures and flavors would seem to inspire much more. Also,it's a bit hard to find this place as it is tucked behind the other stores that face Bardstown in the strip.
Pros: Delicious food, Vegan menu!!!, Friendly and gracious staff
Cons: Feels like you are eating in a cafeteria., Somewhat hard to find.

Big on Great Service and Great Flavor - Edit
Funmi's is a great little find in the Gardiner Lane shopping center. I visited recently with a Groupon and was able to get a delicious red cabbage salad and a vegan entree for just $15! I got it as a take-out meal and the owner was very friendly, getting my meal prepared fresh and in a timely fashion.

Delicious food, friendly people, lots of vegan ops - Edit
My whole family loves Funmi's! They're one of the best restaurants in Louisville for vegans. There are vegan options for starters, salads, soup, main meals, and desserts. That's really exciting because so many restaurants only have one or two things vegans can choose from. The food is always DELICIOUS to the point that I sometimes dream about it. I love her plantains in anything. I like the way she cooks her rice because it's so plump and has a great texture. Her cooking is so good that I crave things from Funmi's that I don't even normally like. The puff puffs dessert is like funnel cakes, doughnuts, and yeast rolls came together for a magical taste party. The service is good and Funmi and Yomi are so nice that you immediately feel like they're your friends. If you haven't been yet, you should go tonight!

Updated vegan menu, a bit pricey - Edit
Finally got to check out Funmi's! Their vegan menu is pretty rad, though they listed 'ice cream' and weren't sure they actually had vegan ice cream. I told them to check out So Delicious, etc. The other dishes were incredible, mostly rice and bean based, or tofu, with savory Nigerian flavors in a tomato base. Really good stuff! They have yeast donuts that are vegan as well.
Read moreThe portions are smaller than what you would expect for the price, and while we used a Groupon-like deal, paying full price would be pretty serious at this place (think $40+ for two people). Still, great to have another vegan option on Bardstown Rd, and very cool that they decided to update their menu based on requests and location.
Pros: vegan options, vegan donuts, very tasty
Cons: pricey
