Limited menu, average experience.

I was pretty underwhelmed by Fruits and Roots. Their lunch buffet had 5-6 items to choose from and my plate cost R129 which wasn’t great value. The food was enjoyable and staff friendly. The Vegan Carrot Cake was the best of all. It all just felt a little sad and forgotten.
The shop attached to it is very well stocked with plenty of vegan store cupboard essentials but the cafe could do with a new injection of zest to make it more appealing.

Retail Irish sea moss gel in jars?

Fruits and Roots is vegetarian cafe and healh food store where the employees understand what "vegan" means. As others have already mentioned in their reviews, the buffet is quite nice and almost exclusively vegan. They also have the regular cafe menu with plenty of vegan options, including pizza, burgers, wraps, salads, fresh juices and smoothies. Noteworthy finds in the store section at the time of this review are vegan ice-cream, organic raw sprouted sunflower and pumpkin seeds, coconut milk kefir and Irish sea moss gel in jars (which I've never seen sold in a store before)

Pros: Irish sea moss gel, Coconut milk kefir, Tasty buffet

Great food and service

The food is great and the service is fantastic. The lunch buffet is really good. They also have a wide variety in the shop, so you can have lunch then stock up in your favourite health products. They have a decent amount of vegan options as well.

Cons: Quite pricey.

Lots of variety but expensive

Unfortunately they don't open the restaurant on Sundays which was what I was looking forward to, so I'll have to go back for that.
A very nice and wide variety of products, but expensive. Some can actually be found at local supermarkets for a more affordable price so unless you are looking for something very specific, there's no need to go there on purpose and spend more.
The guy at the till wasn't very friendly either.

Nice buffet

Nice buffet. I happened to have a voucher deal which I bought online. I used it to eat with my friends.

Pros: Nice buffet

Cons: has non-vegan options

Best health store in Jozi

The grocery store is by far the biggest in the city. Huge variety & plenty of imports. Your one stop shop! A la cart menu is great, buffet is average.
