Serves fish, vegan options available. Launched vegan menu in late-Oct 2018 with 3 choices each of starters, mains, and desserts. Will open for Sunday lunch by reservation. Confirmed closed, Dec 2018.
Quality hand made vegan options - almost unbelievable to come across this place in the Charente countryside! - Edit
Fransons is a lovely setting. The jackfruit fish and chips is simply not to be missed. I don't remember fish and chips ever tasting this good, even before I went vegan! My favourite is to swap normal chips with the sweet potato fries because I think they're even better than the normal chips! Fransons make their own vegan mozarella and are exploring so many things with really healthy ingredients - the choc orange mousse for example has no added sugar and is made using aquafaba! It's a joy!
Yes they do still serve fish on the premises - but they are transitioning to be entirely plant based. They would have shot themselves in the foot and lost all their customers if they'd made the transition all in one go (as they were a fish and chip restaurant before) This place needs our support, not only because it's really good and worth going, but also because they are making a true statement offering plant based meals in an agricultural country setting! Places like this are changing the world!
We had a super 'fish' and chip lunch made with battered jack fruit today. followed by a delightful chocolate and orange mousse for myself and my husband had a lime sorbet. The cafe offers a range of vegan options at very reasonable prices. Service was friendly and food was served quickly. Would highly recommend a visit and also to book a table as the restaurant was full when we went. There is parking nearby. The restaurant is located in a rural village and also has a motorhome aire, great for tourists who are travelling in camping cars and want somewhere easily accessible.

Pros: They will adapt menus to suit, Home made and really explorative cuisine -aquafaba, Reasonable price for quality served
Cons: Not open every day and on Saturday lunch times!
