Multi-generational organic farmer and cattle rancher Mike Lanigan was taking care of the cows one day and had a change of heart: he no longer wanted to send them off to slaughter. He then allowed his employee, Edith, to take over and convert this cattle farm into a safe haven for the animals within it. With the manure of these cows, he fertilizes his 40 acre farm full of certified organic vegetables. The sanctuary is located on an actively working farm. As such, it is not open to the public except on scheduled visiting days.

Amazing experience! - Edit
I’ve been to Farmhouse Garden Animal Home a few times over the years for their open farm days or events. They are an animal sanctuary for cows, horses, a donkey, chickens and ducks. Everytime I go it’s always an amazing experience. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the farm always has lots of animals to see and feed. For their events and open farm days they often have vegetables to available to buy to feed the animals, which is an amazing experience. Since they are only open for special events, tickets are sometimes hard to get and sell out fast. I can’t wait to go back again soon!

Amazing Sanctuary - Edit
Volunteers were very welcoming of people coming to see the animals.
Read moreThey host a "letting out the cows" day when the cows are allowed to return to the pasture in the spring.
Sometimes there are vegan snacks.

Lovely Sanctuary - Edit
Theirs no eating here, just visiting the animals who have been saved from the cattle industry mostly. You can learn about, visit and feed a few snacks to a few friendly ducks, chicken, cows, a horse and a hilarious and sweet donkey.
