Farm-to table vegan lunches using organic produce and served in an old Japanese farmhouse. Approx. 8 min by taxi from Oku JR station. Lunch is served till 3pm, cafe menu from 2-5:30pm. Course meals are available with reservation at least one week in advance. Open Fri-Sun 11:30am-5:30pm. Closed on the 4th Sunday of month.

Outstanding Veggie Burger, Set Lunches & Online shop, Catering

Erbenmu is a bit hard to say or remember, and a bit hard to find the first time- but very worth seeking out! The owner told me he was inspired to start his own place after traveling around the world and seeing all the amazing plant-based eating options available. He felt connected to so many of the likeminded people he met who were running vegan and vegetarian places which inspired him to open his own shop in his hometown. He set himself up in Okayama city at first but then moved out to this beautiful traditional style Japanese country house to start a vegan catering business to the local community, online sales of his readymade vegan meals as well as open to the public as a restaurant.
I only had one chance to try his food while in Setouchi-city so I had both the lunch set AND the veggie burger in one sitting- everything was really good, but the burger was the real stand-out item!

Pros: Beautifully designed, comfortable eating space, Spectacularly tall & tasty vegan burger, Good value, healthy lunch sets

Cons: A little difficult to find for first timers, limited table seating (lots of floor seating)

Japanese traditional interior design is really relaxing & stylish if you are okay sitting on the floor- really nice! at Erbenmu in Setouchi

Daily menu is difficult to read if you can't understand Japanese well but the staff speak a little English - safe to order the daily set as all is vegan at Erbenmu in Setouchi

Fantastic!

It's a little far from downtown, but it's totally worth the ride: amazing atmosphere, really friendly staff and delicious food.

nice experience

It was great to have a Japanese-style vegan meal. The entree was great, but the dessert that came with it was small and not too flavorful. The location is awesome - it's in the middle of a giant field!
I bought the lunch set w/ dessert and 2 scones and spent 2000¥.
Also, remember to contact them to make a reservation.

Pros: good atmosphere, unique location

Cons: a bit expensive
