The benchmark for vegan sushi - Edit
We visited 5 years ago when we first went vegan. We have talked about it ever since and couldn’t come back to Peru without returning!
Read moreWe enjoyed the Miso soup and tasting menu for two for lunch. Everything we had tasted incredible and was easily filling enough for lunch.
The following evening we shared the 60 piece sharing board and more miso soup. Once again the sushi was delicious and very inventive. We love everything about this restaurant and hope to return again one day
Pros: So much variety of vegan sushi to try, All made fresh to order, Beautiful setting

We ordered the set menu for two and pisco sours. Set menu included seaweed salad, gyoza, sushi and the miso soup. Everything was outstanding however we did leave still a bit hungry.

A vegan sushi bar?! Yes please!! I told the waiter I wasn’t sure what to get and he suggested this sushi platter with a few different amazing rolls. I also got a non-alcoholic maracuya drink that felt glamorous to drink, and they have a dessert sushi roll! All super affordable prices!!

Very nice restaurant, good atmosphere and very good vegan sushi. Prices are higher than normal Peruvian restaurants but definitely worth it. It was busy when we were there so it took a bit long. Ramen was also very good.

If you’re vegan/vegetarian and in Arequipa you have to try this place. The lighting and architecture in the seating area is nice and relaxing. The service was quick and attentive. The dumplings tasted amazing, but we’re gone too quick!! The ramen had a ton of flavor and hit the spot. The green tea came in a cool container. I’m extremely satisfied and had a great time!

First of all- the restaurant is beautiful. We did the menu for 2 and every course was amazing. There was so much flavor and the sushi was simply perfect. If you are looking for a quick meal- this isn’t the spot for you. But we highly recommend this as a great spot near the plaza.

We visited in 2017 and this was one of the best meals of our South American tour. We came three times to this restaurant and sampled everything we could. Absolutely amazing sushi. Definitely a must visit in Arequipa!

I was a bit disappointed in el buda profano, especially since it’s gotten such high reviews. Had the maki of the day with was 20 soles for 15 pcs and a juice. The makis weren’t that big, you hardly got any wasabi or soy. Also I felt the service was lacking. I was one of two people there, but had to wait a long time for the waitress to help me. The juice wasn’t that nice and the sushi was kinda meh. Okay, but I’ve had a lot better.

Read moreI wound up splurging and spending north of S/ 70 for ramen, nigiri, maki, and dessert maki. The ramen’s toppings and veggies were excellent, but the noodles left something to be desired (not quite ramen) and the broth was lacking the salty umami kick I would expect. Not bad by any stretch, just not outstanding.
The sushi was fresh tasting and quite good, but I would have loved to see some vegan spicy mayo offered. That really would’ve given them a bit more zing and excitement.
Finally, the dessert maki of fruit and walnut wrapped in rice with drizzled on chocolate was great, and I highly recommend it.
