awesome vegan restaurant

i tried the pizza with only cheese and the chicken burger with a side kale salad. the pizza was awesome and the burger was just okay, I wasn’t a fan of the bun used as mine was a little burnt and had a weird taste and smell to it. overall i was satisfied with the food.

Best plant based pizza we've had

Nice restaurant with even nicer people working there. 100% plant based pizza and cheeses is what's it's all about ! We had a mushroom chowder soup as an appetizer and it was delicious. We asked to share one and they gave us separate bowls with good portions which was a very nice touch. For our main meal we had a Mac n cheese pizza. Very good pizza with amazing side hot sauce, leaving us with full stomachs and happy taste buds. Reasonable prices are also a good point

Pros: very good soup !!!, amazing homemade pizza, homemade cheeses

Cons: only one dessert option which is a full pie

amazing!

This place was fabulous! The cheese platter was out of this world! By far the best vegan cheese I've had and I've had some good ones. The pizza was delicious and the dessert was on point! The cocktails were also very good! Great service, as well!!!! Will def go back next time I'm in the area!

Delicious VEGAN pizza!

Definitely try the "black garlic and truffle" pizza. The crust felt just right and the sauce and toppings were absolutely delicious. The service was very good and the place has a pleasant, casual atmosphere. If you are in Edmonton, make sure not to miss Die Pie!

One of My Favourites

Die Pie is so delicious! I go for brunch whenever I can since their brunch menu has not a single miss. The French toast is just a wow item. Still haven't been able to go for lunch because of my work schedule but I sure do drool looking at the lunch menu!

Pros: Delicious vegan food that my carnist family likes!, Great presentation, Charming staff

Cons: Great looking lunch menu not avail. at easier time

Thoughtful and delicious food

I haven't been disappointed with anything I've ever ordered here. I both love and hate that they have a rotating menu. My favorite dish previously was the lobster mushroom bisque but it's no longer available. I really enjoy the brunch options, they create a delicious vegan egg. And during lunch the roast beef and crispy chicken sandwiches are both very delicious. The pizzas are always good too and the cheese platter is worth trying at least once. The dishes are expensive but as everything is made in house you are getting quality foods.

Hopefully they are able to expand soon (and get bigger tables). Only things I haven’t liked are the chorizo & macaroni pizza but everything else has been amazing.

Pros: Food!!, House made nut cheese is to die for!

Worth Every Clam

This is not a traditional pizza but a vegan take of oven baked circular bread with fantastic toppings and sauces. With the in house DJ busting tunes people dinned in a busy setting drinking and eating exceptional food. They even have a vegan caesar drink which tasted just the same. The clam juice was well imitated. And we ordered a special pizza and another. Both were amazing. We would come back here all the time if we lived in Edmonton.

GET IN MY BELLY!!!!

As a newly minted vegan (after 58 years as a carnist!) I must say that Die Pie is a godsend! All the menu items are extremely flavourful, so much so that you don’t even notice it as “vegan food” ... you all know THAT stigma. I am grateful that their ‘cheeses’ are made in house ... and that they are delicious. Prior to this the only options were pizza joints that used that horrible, plasticky Daiya stuff.
Die Pie can get very busy and very noisy. That’s not a bad thing; just something you should know in case you were wanting a quiet dinner.
The beverages are stellar, the food rich in flavour and the atmosphere is upbeat. I’ve had nearly every pizza they make, had the “Lobster Penne” (WOW!), had an amazing beverage called “Cold with a little Chili” and often buy their house made coconut yogurt and cheeses to take home. SO DANG GOOD!!!!

CHEESE!!! That actually tastes good!!

Had dinner here last night and it did not disappoint! We ordered 4 pizzas, buffalo chicken, margherita, mac n cheese and olive tapenade with truffle oil. I can't remember what the last one was called but you get the idea. They were all really good. The mozza cheese on the margherita was so convincing I'd swear I was hitting up real cheese. Buffalo chicken was full of flavour and gorgonzola cheese complimented the heat of the chicken well. Mac n cheese and the olive one were also really yum. The staff was friendly and the ambience was pretty cool too. We ordered Ceasers to drink and they were a little lacking in flavour, but the garnish was good. Juicy pickle nomnom. But besides that totally satisfied. Ooh and the crust was really good. We'll be back for sure!

Pros: Delicious!, Awesome service, Cool ambience

Cons: Ceaser drink was a bit bland

Pretty disappointing....

I love new vegan places in my town, so it's hard to say, but I wasn't thrilled. Like some of the other reviewers, I found many of the pizzas unexciting. I actually liked their basic Margherita, which my kids had, but my Mac n Cheese pizza was pretty bland. Didn't really enjoy it at all. The Buffalo chicken pizza was better, but not outstanding. And my dessert, a pumpkin pie cheesecake, was very ho-hum. Considering that it all comes at uber premium prices, I can't get too excited about this new Edmonton entry. Oh, and be prepared to wait awhile for your food.

Pros: Innovative menu

Cons: Slow food delivery, Very pricey

Tasty vegan pizza

I was very excited to try Die Pie as soon as they opened, and my first visit did not disappoint! We tried the mac n' cheese pizza, as well as the daily special which was a buffalo chicken pizza. The mac n' cheese pizza was alright, but the buffalo chicken pizza was outstanding, the tiny pieces of vegan chicken were perfectly seasoned, and the dill really brought the whole dish together. Die Pie is unique in that they offer their own vegan cheese on their pizzas, rather than a storebought variety. The cheese is rich and creamy, a nice treat after being subjected to plastic-tasting commercial vegan cheeses.
For dessert we had the dessert pizza which is topped with chocolate and bananas. The crust was a bit disappointing on the dessert pizza - it's just a regular pizza crust. A sweet crust or one with a bit of cinnamon would really improve this dessert.
Overall, Die Pie is a great choice for a nicer restaurant in downtown, and makes a delicious plant-based pizza. :)

Pros: Wonderful in-store made vegan cheese, Cute ambiance, Very friendly, helpful wait staff

Cons: Dessert a little bland

Not bad

I'm impressed with their cheese but the pizza I had was sour (the pulled pork). I would probably go back and try something else. I'd rather have this than animal products :)

Pizza Review

We ordered the mac&cheese and jackfruit pizza's. Jackfruit is a new ingredient that we have discovered so we were very excited to see it on Die Pie's menu... unfortunately, the pizzas were quite bland and the cheese was much too thick.. one bite would be way too much cheese and nothing else, and then the next would be a thin spread of mildly flavoured jackfruit... And the mac&cheese pizza was not nearly as exciting as it looks as well. The pasta was good on its own but almost went unnoticed atop the pizza. I was expecting this one to be saucy but it was dry and uneventful.
We took them to go and then piled on avocado, bell pepper, jalapenos, and had dipping sauce on the side to make the pizza more worth while. This pizza was over priced for the amount of toppings that were provided.
If you are going here for the pizza... I would suggest looking else where.
I still want to try this place for the other options available as they look wonderful. Hope the second round goes better :)
Excited for this company though, and the advances they will make!! Keep working at it Die Pie!! :)

To Die For

Flavourful, cutting-edge and creative plant-based pizzeria! I got there half an hour early and was lucky enough to be one of the 1st customers in line for their grand opening. It was well worth the wait.

The atmosphere is inviting, clean and sharp. It is a sit down restaurant with tables and chairs at the bar. They have a beautifully painted wall with tall trees and what seems to be mountain peaks.

The menu offers salads, a cheese platter, pizzas, pastas and desserts. All of their dairy-free cheese is made in house. Their Gorgonzola and Black Garlic & Truffle cheese is fermented with rejuvelac.

The oven heats up to 700 degrees with the top of it reaching up to 1000 degrees. The pizza only takes a few minutes to cook. I like the open concept where you can see the chef at work making and baking pizzas.

As for drinks, alcohol is on the menu, although they were apologetic in not being able to serve it quite yet. They had kombucha on tap and a café espresso bar with one of my favourite drinks: turmeric latte. You also have a choice of cultured cashew and hemp milk.

I ordered the margherita pizza and it was outstanding! The crust was thin, the tomato sauce was fresh with minced garlic, cooked and raw basil and the pièce de résistance: the cashew mozzarella, was to die for! It amazing how they can make dairy free cheese taste like dairy cheese. I was super impressed and quite pleased to hear that we can also purchase their organic cheese to bring home!

Looking forward to many visits to this revolutionary plant-based Edmonton business! It seems to be the first of its kind in Alberta.

Cons: newer business. still working out a few kinks.
