CHEESE!!! That actually tastes good!! - Edit

Had dinner here last night and it did not disappoint! We ordered 4 pizzas, buffalo chicken, margherita, mac n cheese and olive tapenade with truffle oil. I can't remember what the last one was called but you get the idea. They were all really good. The mozza cheese on the margherita was so convincing I'd swear I was hitting up real cheese. Buffalo chicken was full of flavour and gorgonzola cheese complimented the heat of the chicken well. Mac n cheese and the olive one were also really yum. The staff was friendly and the ambience was pretty cool too. We ordered Ceasers to drink and they were a little lacking in flavour, but the garnish was good. Juicy pickle nomnom. But besides that totally satisfied. Ooh and the crust was really good. We'll be back for sure!

Pros: Delicious!, Awesome service, Cool ambience

Cons: Ceaser drink was a bit bland

Pretty disappointing.... - Edit

I love new vegan places in my town, so it's hard to say, but I wasn't thrilled. Like some of the other reviewers, I found many of the pizzas unexciting. I actually liked their basic Margherita, which my kids had, but my Mac n Cheese pizza was pretty bland. Didn't really enjoy it at all. The Buffalo chicken pizza was better, but not outstanding. And my dessert, a pumpkin pie cheesecake, was very ho-hum. Considering that it all comes at uber premium prices, I can't get too excited about this new Edmonton entry. Oh, and be prepared to wait awhile for your food.

Pros: Innovative menu

Cons: Slow food delivery, Very pricey

Tasty vegan pizza - Edit

I was very excited to try Die Pie as soon as they opened, and my first visit did not disappoint! We tried the mac n' cheese pizza, as well as the daily special which was a buffalo chicken pizza. The mac n' cheese pizza was alright, but the buffalo chicken pizza was outstanding, the tiny pieces of vegan chicken were perfectly seasoned, and the dill really brought the whole dish together. Die Pie is unique in that they offer their own vegan cheese on their pizzas, rather than a storebought variety. The cheese is rich and creamy, a nice treat after being subjected to plastic-tasting commercial vegan cheeses.
For dessert we had the dessert pizza which is topped with chocolate and bananas. The crust was a bit disappointing on the dessert pizza - it's just a regular pizza crust. A sweet crust or one with a bit of cinnamon would really improve this dessert.
Overall, Die Pie is a great choice for a nicer restaurant in downtown, and makes a delicious plant-based pizza. :)

Pros: Wonderful in-store made vegan cheese, Cute ambiance, Very friendly, helpful wait staff

Cons: Dessert a little bland

Not bad - Edit

I'm impressed with their cheese but the pizza I had was sour (the pulled pork). I would probably go back and try something else. I'd rather have this than animal products :)

Pizza Review - Edit

We ordered the mac&cheese and jackfruit pizza's. Jackfruit is a new ingredient that we have discovered so we were very excited to see it on Die Pie's menu... unfortunately, the pizzas were quite bland and the cheese was much too thick.. one bite would be way too much cheese and nothing else, and then the next would be a thin spread of mildly flavoured jackfruit... And the mac&cheese pizza was not nearly as exciting as it looks as well. The pasta was good on its own but almost went unnoticed atop the pizza. I was expecting this one to be saucy but it was dry and uneventful.
We took them to go and then piled on avocado, bell pepper, jalapenos, and had dipping sauce on the side to make the pizza more worth while. This pizza was over priced for the amount of toppings that were provided.
If you are going here for the pizza... I would suggest looking else where.
I still want to try this place for the other options available as they look wonderful. Hope the second round goes better :)
Excited for this company though, and the advances they will make!! Keep working at it Die Pie!! :)

To Die For - Edit

Flavourful, cutting-edge and creative plant-based pizzeria! I got there half an hour early and was lucky enough to be one of the 1st customers in line for their grand opening. It was well worth the wait.

The atmosphere is inviting, clean and sharp. It is a sit down restaurant with tables and chairs at the bar. They have a beautifully painted wall with tall trees and what seems to be mountain peaks.

The menu offers salads, a cheese platter, pizzas, pastas and desserts. All of their dairy-free cheese is made in house. Their Gorgonzola and Black Garlic & Truffle cheese is fermented with rejuvelac.

The oven heats up to 700 degrees with the top of it reaching up to 1000 degrees. The pizza only takes a few minutes to cook. I like the open concept where you can see the chef at work making and baking pizzas.

As for drinks, alcohol is on the menu, although they were apologetic in not being able to serve it quite yet. They had kombucha on tap and a café espresso bar with one of my favourite drinks: turmeric latte. You also have a choice of cultured cashew and hemp milk.

I ordered the margherita pizza and it was outstanding! The crust was thin, the tomato sauce was fresh with minced garlic, cooked and raw basil and the pièce de résistance: the cashew mozzarella, was to die for! It amazing how they can make dairy free cheese taste like dairy cheese. I was super impressed and quite pleased to hear that we can also purchase their organic cheese to bring home!

Looking forward to many visits to this revolutionary plant-based Edmonton business! It seems to be the first of its kind in Alberta.

Cons: newer business. still working out a few kinks.
