Decent tacos - Edit
I love that they have a variety of vegan options. We ordered the vegan pastor taco, an avotaco, and a buffalo zucchini taco. My fave was the pastor, had good flavor in the sauce on the soy filling. The side of chips and guac was also very tasty. We also got a side of french fries. Overall, very filling. The homemade corn tortillas were tasty, but a little too thick for my preference. The deep fried tacos were okay, I probably wouldn't go back for those. I also ordered a Jamaica drink and it was insanely tart, was screaming for a bit more sweetness. I would not order that again. Overall was a decent meal but hit or miss us with some of the tacos.

Amazing Tacos - Edit
Great portions, thick in-house made tortillas, and big selection of vegan options! Al pastor is my fave, then the crispy fried avocado taco. Up there with Tacotarian.

Small Family Owned Business with Amazing Vegan and Vegetarian Options - Edit
Craft & Taco is a small, family-owned restaurant in Escondido, CA. If you're into fancy places, this restaurant may not be for you; but if you're into great service, great food, and getting your money's worth, then I highly recommended this pleasant surprise in the heart of Escondido.
Read moreThis restaurant accommodates vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters. There is a vegan/vegetarian menu, and anything vegetarian can also be made vegan. Generous sized tacos are served on homemade tortillas. (I prefer the flour). The average person will need 2 tacos to get full and 3 to get stuffed. Spicy and delicious green and red salsas are offered. (My favorite is the flavorful, smoky, red salsa, but I may choose the green salsa depending on the taco).
I am a vegan who used to be vegetarian. I have tried most of their vegetarian and vegan menu items. Below is my review.
My favorite vegan taco, and favorite taco overall, is the buffalo zucchini taco. This taco is topped with vegan ranch and buffalo sauce, so I do not recommend adding any salsa. A large piece of perfectly breaded zucchini, the star of the show, is accompanied by spiraled carrots, sliced celery, spring mix, and other fresh veggies.
My second favorite vegan taco is the avotaco made vegan. Because this taco does not contain cheese, the only vegan substitute that is the aioli. I recommend the green salsa and substituting the corn tortilla for flour. This taco comes with a large slices of avocado tempura style and fresh veggies.
MY favorite vegetarian taco, and my former favorite taco overall, is the chile relleno. If you love cheese, you will be thrilled with the explosion of cheese stuffed inside a breaded chile, accompanied by spring mix and other fresh veggies. The red salsa is amazing with this taco. I have tried the vegan version of this taco, and while still good, I am not the biggest fan of vegan cheeses and usually avoid them.
My second favorite vegetarian taco would have to be the avotaco mentioned above or the portobellini, which is full of cheesy mushroom goodness. This taco pairs well with the red salsa. I have not tried it vegan style, as again, I am not a fan of vegan cheeses.
Other items I love: elote
Other items that were okay: Chapis rolls, soyviche, beans
Other items that I do not love: vegan pastor, french fries
Pros: Humble seasonal decor and atmosphere, music, Service (fast, friendly, correct order), Quality food, menu for all

Best vegan tacos! - Edit
There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and the vegetarian ones can be made vegan upon request. I'm not a taco person, ( I prefer burrritos) but this place is a game changer for me. I could only eat 3, so I plan on coming back to try ones I didn't get the first time.

Taco 6.3 overall.... Management enough for me to make a review - Edit
Cute little spot . Has nice shaded patio. Very nice in Escondido heat.
Read moreI am a middle age white guy. Pretty well put together.
I get one taco and one drink. Sit on the patio. And find a outlet to charge my phone nearby.
10 mins later. A gal who I have not talked to came and said " hey I'm the owner here. But we don't allow charging phones to the public..."
My thoughts
1 -'m not the public... I'm a patron at your restaurant.
2- why?
3- if you continue to let me charge my phone. Won't that increase my bill?
4 - check please

I loved the vegan tacos here! Everything is really nicely labeled, so you know which tacos to order for gluten intolerances, or which tacos are vegetarian and which are vegan. The staff was extremely nice as well!

NOT VEGAN - Edit
The Soyviche has clam juice (Clamato mixture) and the “ vegan “ tacos are cross contaminated due to no glove use or hand washing.

Met a non vegetarian here at this cool in the hole in the wall after reading reviews. Super casual and fast. I tried the avocado and the portobello tacos. Both very very good! Unusual and thoughtful menu. Most of the time you have to settle for the one non meat option and it's pretty meh. Not here!

F’n delicious - Edit
I’m next door for a birthday party, taco bar is the menu. I can’t eat that so I go next door and get 3 vegan tacos: avotaco, el pastor and the Chile rellano, all 3 were delicious. The Chile rellano is my new favorite taco. Will repeat every time I’m in Esco. 5 stars too bad HappyCow won’t let me put 5 stars.

Cons: No vegan cheese but more vegans eat there..., ...maybe they’ll stock vegan cheese.

Can't wait to go back - Edit
My mom and I were in Escondido a few weeks ago so I went to check if there were any places to eat in the area and came across Craft and Taco Lounge and thought I would treat her to lunch. Boy am I glad I did. We got four tacos and shared them. We had the Chili Relleno (which was our favorite), Portobellini, Avotaco, and Cauliflower (our least favorite of the four). Its important to note that some tacos are vegetarian but can be made vegan upon request.
Read moreI can't wait to go back and try the remaining three tacos on the vegetarian/vegan menu.
This is also a great place to go with your meat eating friends as they have something for everyone so no one feels that they are missing out.
Pros: Vegan Chile Relleno! , Something for all dietary needs, TACOS!
Cons: Kind of pricey at $3.50-$4.00 per taco, Its in Escondido which is a bit of a drive from OB

Yummy tacos - Edit
This place has five vegan taco options and they were all really good, especially loved the zucchini taco. Make sure you tell them you want them vegan otherwise they assume you want vegetarian. Also be careful if you get non vegan tacos in the same to-go order because they don’t label them.
