Could be better

A small group of us booked in for dinner (Dec 2022) and some were wanting to order the special. When we went up to the counter to order we advised each item we wanted but it was rung up not as the special (2 X Chimichangas for $30 but instead $19.90 - we had order 4!) we had to point it out and got ‘tutted’ and commented ‘I have to start all over now!’ We felt like we were getting told off, even at $19.60 more than the advertised Wednesday special!
Then when we got the meals, 2 of the orders were not mild, as asked - 1 of those orders were also incorrect, therefore 2 of our group could only have a couple of bites.
The meals tasted pre-made, which is somewhat ok. But 2 of our Chimichangas were hot on outside cool in centre & there was ALOT of cabbage inside. Not sure where the corn chips with the Chimichangas were? There was no vegan sour cream on offer to cool down the unwanted heat.
The margarita was nice, although the salted crust on the glass was stale and so was I feel just decorative?
When we asked about cutlery, he didn’t even look up from the till and pointed over to a tin with a few knives and one fork in it. We had to ask for more cutlery and serviettes. Each time we asked for something it felt like an inconvenience.
The owner was by himself and sweating up a storm rushing about to get things done before closing.
We didn’t want to say anything as we knew he’d had a rough time in the weeks prior, according to Instagram.
3 of our party were from Interstate and often come to Adelaide for family and vegan food. 2 of our party have been to Mexico a few times and said the food here was average.
We ended up at the pub a few metres away and ordered more food and drinks and ate the cake we made for the special occasion, that we would’ve had here if we didn’t feel so uncomfortable.
My interstate Family and friends don’t want to come back.
But I will always give places a second chance, so hope to be able to update to a more review.

Simple but good, on the expensive side

Tried the beer Birra tacos and the burrito - it tastes fresh and the ingredients are simple, but it's really nice overall. The tacos were slightly soggy but it wasn't a big deal. No fuss, casual, cute place. The only downside is that it's quite expensive for the amount you get.

Authentic vegan mexican

I've done a cooking class with Rueben, which was great to learn about authentic Mexican flavours and techniques. Recently had a chorizo burrito at the vegan picnic. It was great, I've missed chorizo lots since going vego. Only thing it was missing was some rice.

Pros: All vegan establishment, Authentic Mexican food, Delicious

Recommend 5/5

The food was delicious and staff were happy to assist in narrowing down the choices.
Unfortunately I was too full to try dessert.
I will definitely return and hope others do too!

Note: the virgin lime margarita has a kick.

Fast service

We had bean nachos, bean burrito and churros. You get to pick the spiciness of the salsa and pick your own protein. Tacos change daily. Nice chilled vibes and service was quick.

Pros: Delicious , Well priced , Lovely owner
