The food is great and this has become my favourite vegan restaurant in Chiang Mai. The price for the food could be more expensive when you think of what other restaurants charge.

Perfect everyday restaurant - Edit
I really lucked-out having this place just a short walk from where I was staying. The menu is huge, as are the portions, and it’s all very fairly priced.
Read moreEach item on the menu costs around 50 baht, and each one is a meal. Get two items and you have a very large meal.
It’s all Thai food, and is a really high quality.
If you’re staying nearby, this is the kind of place that you could come to everyday given how cheap it is, and how much variety there is on the menu.

Name change - Gin Pak Cafe - Edit
found the cafe however now has a different spelling in the name … I had massaman curry and my wife had a soup dish … I think the cafe caters for the Thai palate as I found the food average but my Thai wife tasted both dishes and liked them

Tasty but could be better - Edit
The Burmese tea leaf salad was delicious! I put medium spicy and to be honest expected it to be spicier. The tofu and holy basil was good too, but could have some more flavor and spice.

A familiar Vegan/Veg restaurant in Santitham - Edit
This restaurant has just opened, so a few things were not ready at the time. I believe the menu with expand more in future. They offer a wide variety of Thai food.
Read moreThey have decorated the place nicely. It feels like a place you could sit and relax for a while more so than some other Thai style Veg restaurants.
The menu looks very familiar to a certain Veg restaurant on the Northern side of the old city moat. The prices are very affordable. The menu is so extensive repeat visits will be necessary.
Pros: Good location, Low prices, Wide variety of Thai food
Cons: No Tempeh

Very tasty Thai vegan dishes - Edit
I always order from CMU Vegan with Grab and the food arrives fast and packed with care. Every single dish I've tried on the menu is fantastic. The spring rolls are next level and the som tam is so good!

A favorite - Edit
Of all the vegan restaurants we’ve tried in the 2 weeks we’ve been in Thailand this was a highlight! Really delicious, good prices, easy to find (followed google maps, it’s at the end of an alley parallel with / close to the main road). It was also only a 5-10 minute motorbike ride from the trail head for the Wat Pha Lat hike (Monk’s trail).

Some of the best food yet! - Edit
We loved every bit of the food we ate! We had a spicy noodle soup that was Incredible! Yellow Curry Fried Rice, very tasty, fried mushroom plate which was every bit as delicious as it sounds. We also got 2 drink and each of them was very tasty and super refreshing. Highly recommend stopping her for a bite to eat after you do the Monk’s Trail Hike a few minutes away.

Can adjust for taste & health, CHEAP! - Edit
Vast menu with super cheap dishes and a bunch of indicators in which you can adjust oil/no-oil and spice level. The food ranges from your standard Thai fare, to ones with unique variations e.g. I got a Som Tum salad that was filled with fresh cucumber instead of papaya. I also got Pad Kee Mao, both were simple, tasty and nice, and for under 100 baht, well worth it.
Read moreThis place is tucked away in a little alleyway near Chiang Mai University - and is almost always very quiet. The atmosphere and ambience is simple but generally nice, if you’re around, do support this joint!

Really nice food with Vegan versions of Thai classics. Have the option to have Oil/No Oil too which is great for those trying to eat healthy. Also some amazing fried treats for those ‘cheat’ days - try the carrot/corn fried things (sorry can’t remember actual name)

We will be back! - Edit
Tucked away down an alley in Suthep is this little gem. When we arrived no one else was there and there were a bunch of dishes on a table being photographed & sampled to update their menu. We ordered 2 appetizers, a main, and a drink. We didn't order a lot because we were saving room for vegan ice cream down the street later. As we waited we chatted with the nice staff and they asked if we'd like to try the yellow & massaman curries to give our feedback. Both were delicious, especially the massaman, but we didn't want to get too full. When are for came we were impressed that it had lots of flavor and wasn’t oily. Both my partner and I were very impressed. We’ve been in Chiang Mai for a week and this is our favorite place so far (we’ve been eating out twice a day at other great vegan restaurants, so that says a lot). Please support this wonderful restaurant!

Another Jay MyJam Jay - Edit
This used to be Bee Vegan until summer 2019 then it shut down and re-opened as CMU vegan.
Read moreIt now seems to be another branch of the nearby Jam myjam jay as the dishes are basically the same and cooked the same.
Menu is huge. You can find noodle dishes, rice dishes, curries, western style salads and a selection of somtam Thai style salads. Also a selection of fried type side dishes.
Prices are cheap. Set-up is very basic. Dishes are made to order and taste pretty good but don't particularly expect to be blown away by the taste.
It certainly does the job if you are in this area and need some cheap and decent nosh.
Pros: All vegan, Cheap, Huge chice
Cons: Just nothing that special
