Some options are better than nothing! - Edit

They had 3 gluten free & vegan food items when I went in March 2026. I was pleasantly surprised that they had soy milk.

Pros: Vegan options, More plant milk variety, Good vibes, parking lot

Cons: Not a ton to choose from, Some staff not very knowledgeable about vegan opti

I love the vegan cowboy cookie they make; however the coffee is not the greatest, imo. If you like sweetened/flavored drinks it might be good! The vibes of this coffee shop/book shop are really nice, and you often see students working there.

i’ve adored church st for the past five years! it will forever be my favorite place to study. i have so many sweet memories of time with friends and family here, surrounded by local art and books ofc. can it get any better than this? i would’ve easily told you no, until the addition of the sunrise cookie. wow! genuinely so good. maybe my fav vegan dessert in bham at the moment

Church Street Coffee & Books - Edit

Y'all, this is the best kept secret in all of Alabama. I was in town a few years ago and had some time to kill, so I went to this bookstore to work on my laptop. I was so excited that they had vegan treats for sale, and I absolutely fell in love with their cookies. My favorite is the sunrise cookie which is so good it makes me want to slap my momma. I dream about these cookies. Who would think to combine quinoa and almonds and agave nectar and top it with apricot jelly??? Ugh, so genius. I wish I lived closer.
