Food is delicious, but the place is not too comfortable

There aren't too many vegan food options, but the ebly salad was delicious. Be careful when ordering a hot chocolate and some of the coffee options, because they are available with plant milk but aren't vegan as they contain eggwhite or honey.
It's really loud and busy there, so not as enjoyable as we hoped it would be.

Pros: Declared vegan options (food), Delicious meal

Cons: Really loud , Some drinks are not vegan (not obvious)

lovely place with a few options

they serve all the different dairy free milks. one of their cakes was vegan and a couple of their chocolates were too (not stated but look on the ingredients). we shared the french breakfast and it came with jams, chocolate spread, various bread and some pastries so i just had the bread (warm) with jam and it was really nice. gorgeous fresh mint tea too.

Labelling is lacking. Feeling like an outsider

While they do have some vegan options, they aren’t really labelled on the menu, apart from one breakfast option. Having to awkwardly ask around what else could be vegan on the menu is uncomfortable and makes me feel unwelcome. The food was ultimately okay, but the whole atmosphere just really isn’t for me.

Pros: Chocolate is quite good, They have a good assortment of tea

Cons: Noisy area with really loud tourists , Unclearly labelled menu , Service takes very long due to the tourist hotspot

Surprised by how many vegan options

A good choice of 4 different vegan milks to have with your chocolate spoon. I only bought spoons to take home as I didn't want to pay an extra €3.50 for hot milk! A lot of the dark chocolate spoons are vegan (but watch out for gelatin in some of the sweets in them!)

Also auf alle Fälle für jeden was leckeres dabei 😊

Pros: Vegane Optionen , klein, gemütlich, hübsch , Nettes Personal

Craving big sized cakes?

If you are craving US sized slices of cakes, you are at the right location! They always offer 2/3 vegan cake options. Cakes are appealing visually and melt on your tongue!
However service was a mess!

Pros: Vegan cakes, Quality price worthy

Cons: Messy service

Returning customer

I return to Chocolate House regularly thanks to their vegan cakes. So far I have noticed that they have a gorgeous vegan chocolate cake and a chocolate brownie cake.

Unlike some other commenter say, the place does offer several flavours of vegan chocospoons. Apparently the staff just isn't aware of all of them.

Pros: Chocolate, Cake, Chocolate cake

Cons: Busy

Not that good

I ate the only vegan option cake available there (I was happy there was an option though) but it was not a good cake. It was so dry and hard and way too sweet, and I love sweet.
My man is a omni and he had a milkshake and a savory pancake. The pancake was good, the milkshake.. not so much.. waaayyy to sweet again. I would not go here again since it’s also very crowded.

Pros: At least there were options

Cons: Crowded, Food wasn’t that good

Meh

I've come here already a few times because my cousin just loves their chocospoons ...
Lets start with the good things
1)Lovely terrace
2)There's always one vegan cake! and it varies from time to time :)

But there are more bad things ...
1)Always too crowded
2)Unfriendly staff (everytime I went there)
3)Only one vegan chocospoon?!
4)Worst chai latte in my whole life ... and I drink a lot of chai! It's basically just milk foam ... and the actual tea flavor (in theory it's good they don't use syrup) can't really develop because of all the foam ...
5)the cake slices are ALWAYS too thick ... you could basically share one slice with 3 people ... this contributes to a lot of foodwaste. They are usually also too sweet

Pros: lovely terrace, vegan cake

Cons: worst chai latte, unfriendly staff, food waste

Nice spot in Luxembourg

We came here twice, first by our own, second in the same day with our friend (local) who thought it would be nice spot in the city for us, vegans. All in same day. Firstly, we had a choco spoon and cakes as breakfast, both very good for start of the day. Second, my husband order a food from menu, where several vegan dishes were available. The food was very good. All together with a nice environment and friendly staff, definitely nice experience in Luxembourg.

Terrible food, terrible service

Not gonna lie, this was some aweful stuff. The vegan items on the menu are overpriced and bland.

I was starving and dizzy so this was the closest place on Happy Cow. Ordered the burger that came with a salad. The dish differed from other HappyCow pics, so this had me a little worried. The salad came soaked in some dressing, and the staff could not say what it's what made of. It tasted sour cream like and gave me a bit of stomach pain. They insisted it was vegan tho, just could not confirm what it was made of...

Not even sure if they gave me the right burger or not - the patty tastes like nothing vegan I had ever had before and did look like other people pictures.
I did not finish any of the food. Never again!!!!

Staff a bit rude and unbothered.

Pros: Has some vegan cakes

Cons: Not sure if it was vegan, Rude staff, Overpriced

Tourist trap

As a local, I have always tried to avoid this place as it is known to be a tourist trap. On a holiday, it was one of the few places open, so my friends persuaded me to accompany them there. The only positive part of this experience for me was to get a look at the nicely renovated old building. The room upstairs was so crowded that it did not feel comfortable staying there. One person of the service team was also unfriendly with their colleagues and made me feel uncomfortable through their body language. When ordering, they offered me some plant based drink options, but only one of their over hundred (?) chocolate flavours should be vegan!? The best part was when they brought me cow milk cream!

Pros: Lovely building

Cons: Often overcrowded with tourists, Partly rude and incompetent service, Expensive

Great hot chocolate, but not the best service

The waiter told me that the only vegan “chocospoon” on the menu was an 80% one, but when I looked at the ingredients on the other spoons, I found quite a few other flavors that didn’t contain animal products. That’s just confusing.

Pros: Interesting options

Cons: Can be very crowded, Service

Coffee Break

Had a café au lait and a slice of vegan "brownie cake". Both were nice, although the cake was heavier than expected. Chilled atmosphere and nice to see a few vegan options.

Pros: Nice cakes and coffees, More than one vegan option, Location

Fab

Cute little place. Had vegan and Gluten free options. GF breakfast and pancakes. Vegan burger and 2 salads (burger was 2 standard veggie patties with some salad, nice enough). Milkshake can be made with an option of dairy free milks and the 85% choc spoon with the same selection of milks for a hot chocolate. Had some vegan and GF cakes available too.
Staff are super friendly and always happy to help.
All in all nice little place with options for all.

Delicious vegan hot chocolate

I give this place full marks for their 85% vegan hot chocolate (note the max you can give a non-vegan place on Happy Cow is 4 stars).

I had the 85% spoon in soy milk and it was delicious.

Service was friendly - woman was run off her feet but still pleasant. Could possibly do with extra staff.

There are clearly labelled vegan mains (I'll add photos shortly), inc a vegan burger and three salads, but I didn't try them. If the food is as good as the chocolate and I hadn't already eaten I would have ordered. (Check out my review of Beet in Luxembourg :((( ). If I were heading back to Luxembourg City I'd make a beeline for this place and order/try out a main.

Nice ambience and the building is from the 1600s so lots of character and full of quirky charm. The type of place I can imagine hanging with girlfriends over wine and then a hot chocolate (or two!)

If I were to get picky, then this would be my feedback to the owners...

Soya milk was extra - Is it really that much more expensive? The additional price covers an entire carton and surely you must sell more a few a day? Please consider not penalising those who don't drink dairy with a surcharge.

Only choice as far as I could tell was 85% due to the presence of milk, gelatine etc in other chocolate options. It would be great if other choices were available. Is there any way to use agar agar instead of gelatine perhaps?

Pros: lovely atmosphere and building, delicious vegan (85%) hot chocolate

Cons: you pay extra for soy milk

Very cute but kitchen closes early

Really nice cafe but their kitchen had already closed when we went in at 6:30pm on a Sunday (not sure what time they stop doing food, sorry). They did offer us some quiche but wasn't vegan. There was a vegan burger and three vegan salads on the menu which all looked good for another time.

We did stay for a hot chocolate, and there was a choice of four or five non-dairy milks for hot chocolate, coffee and milkshakes. Hot chocolate was lovely.

None of the cakes in the big display were marked as vegan (or at all) and we didn't ask as we had to still go get dinner. The chocolate to buy to take away wasn't labelled either so unsure if any options but seemed very expensive anyway.

All in all a nice place just disappointed we couldn't eat!

Pros: Good range of milk & lovely hot chocolat

Cons: Kitchen closed early

Vegan Hot Chocolate!

So, as other reviewer mentioned, you can make your own chocolate by choosing your chocolate spoon and milk.
For vegans, that means choosing the 85% spoon and soy milk.
You can take away the drink; but I'd recommend to grab a seat instead; as it can get messy.

While the ingredients of the 85% spoon did not contain animal products, the staff emphasized that it may still have traces of milk.

Also, they said they usually have a vegan cake every day; however, when I went it was not ready yet.

I did not eat there, so I cannot comment on the food; however, I saw in the menu that there is a vegan burger.

Pros: vegan hot chocolate, friendly staff

Cons: limited vegan options

Lovely!

Good variety of vegan and vegetarian options along with heaps of chocolate. Outdoor and upstairs seating areas. Option of sitting at shared tables, which is quite fun. Food was tasty and hot chocolate was the best. You pick what square of chocolate and what type of milk you like. You then stir your chocolate ladened spoon into the warm milk until melted and creamy. A variety of cakes are also on offer (see photos). Lots of treats to buy and take home as well.
