Nice Vegan Bowl

Went to try this place because it was 1/2 of a block away from where I was staying. was able to make a vegan falafel bowl served with a skhug sauce. It was tasty and satisfying and I was glad it was close by.

Used to be good

I don't know whether there has been a change in management at this particular location, but the quality has seriously gone down hill. The last three times I have asked for diced cucumbers, for instance, they have been a nasty gloppy mess, almost as if they had been frozen and thawed, and if you order ahead, the line crew doesn't pay attention to a request for double cabbage, for instance - if you aren't there to watch them, they don't do it. I've also gotten little smears of tzatziki in my bowl, even though, as a vegan, I have not requested it.

I also eat at the CAVA in downtown DC and that's terrific, but I'm never going back to this particular location.

Pros: Vegan options in a nonvegan restaurant

Cons: Decline in quality of ingredients, Line crew not sticking to order

Fast and easy

I love CAVA because as a veg*n, you still feel like everyone else because the number of toppings to add is what makes this place fun!

Start with a base like super greens or brown rice or spinach or mix a couple- my fav is going greens & grains so I can have half salad greens and half brown rice.

The veg protein is either falafel that is ok or roasted vegetables, which is delicious.

Then, pick some dips- I like the roasted red pepper hummus 2 scoops and 1 scoop of regular hummus, both are vegan. They have an allergen and nutrition menu so you can check what is and isn’t vegan.

Then the toppings- my fav! I love having the fresh mint, cauliflower quinoa, tomatoes and cucumbers, pickled onions and Fresno peppers. Yum! So good!

They have several vegan dressings, too, some are creamy tahini based so that’s fun! Usually I just opt for no dressing because with the seasoned veggie toppings and the hummus, it’s plenty flavorful for me. However, my fav dressing is the skhug- it’s a green puréed blend of herbs and deliciousness!

Also, get as many veg toppings as you like because it’s the same price! There are a few premium extra toppings costing a little extra, but not needed. The veg bowl with all the toppings will fill you up!

Pros: Salad with tons of flavors , Rice bowls , Vegan creamy dressings

Cons: Meat
