Vegan Options & So Much Fun!! - Edit
One dedicated vegan option (corn rajas) and a taco salad which can easily be made vegan and was clearly labelled on menu! The portions are huge, and our server was knowledgeable about what could be vegan in each course. The sopaipillas are vegan without honey and so good! Then of course, it’s such a fun place after eating! So glad we went!

Thank you for this! I'm going next month and had just assumed that the sopapillas were not vegan, so I'm really excited to know that they are!! Are they still good even without the honey? Do they offer any other sauce to put on them?

I'd sneak in a bottle of vegan 'honey,' wrapped in a plastic bag...just for the sopaipillas experience! lol

Fresh flavor and unique experience, didn't disappoint. - Edit
I got the vegan corn rajas which was like a fajita plate that came with corn tortillas, pepper+onion+corn medley, rice, beans, coleslaw. I added a 3oz order of guacamole to the table which really elevated this dish and made it more filling. Honestly, it was all pretty amazing. I was so impressed by the salsa, the cilantro and peppers were extremely fresh tasting with a delicate amount of spice. I was extremely full by the end of it all but I still made space for sopapillas!
Read moreI asked the server about strawberry jam since I've seen it mentioned as a vegan option instead of honey. My server was extremely sweet and let me know that it's not an option, it was probably before the update, and she instead offered me a "strawberry kompot/syrup" that is being used at the bar to make drinks with. She went to double check to make sure it was safe. It was lightly sweet and was perfect to drench the sopapillas in, so props to a knowledgeable patient staff. I was told to lift the flag at the table if we needed anything but didn't have to, our server was checking on us frequently.
I went during the holidays so it was a bit full and chaotic, it really is like an indoor theme park. Lots of children. 1 hour+ wait for face painting. Most activities were on a rolling schedule and it makes it easy to catch everything. After some walking around I regretted bringing my jacket, the humidity while walking around is heavy from the waterfall. Also use flash for pictures, its very dark for ambiance.
I'm a big South Park fan and i was dying to come here and it did not disappoint. I got more sopapillas on my way out and got so full it hurt to lay down. Hoping to head back soon.
Pros: Great flavor, Fresh Ingredients., Sweet attentative staff, SOUTH PARK :)
Cons: No tofu or vegan meat, Extremely busy, can be overstimulating

Better than it used to be - Edit
Only 2 vegan options but the food was pretty good, especially when comparing it to the old Casa Bonita. The nostalgia of the place is the best and they’ve really stepped up their fun since reopening.

Vegan workaround possible - Edit
The menu is really confusing and changed recently (visited in October 2024), but I just started with, "I am vegan, what's my best option?"
Read moreMy server went to the kitchen to confirm which option could be made vegan. There were two options:
1) Taco salad with veggie rajas, no dressing or cheese
Or
2) roasted corn rajas, specify vegan beans
I went with option 2 and was glad to enjoy a full meal, although a bit bland/spiceless. Still, glad to have had confirmation since neither of these are marked even vegetarian on the menu.
My server also confirmed the sopapillas used veggie shortening and could be delivered with strawberry jam instead of honey. I was skeptical but dang! They were incredible! If you ever had strawberry cream cheese toaster strudel pre-vegan days, the sopapillas have almost the identical flavor, just lighter and less gooey than the toaster strudel counterpart.
Overall, Casa Bonita is flexible to vegans, but a challenge to navigate the menu and impossible to order without substitutions.

Thank you! I'm going tonight and I had heard somewhere that the menu changed.

The menu change is truly disappointing since the vegan Chile relleno we got in September '24 was really good.

No more vegan options - Edit
Casa Bonita used to have 1 vegan option when I went in September 2024. The food was good, and the salsa and chips were unlimited and delicious. 4/5 before the menu change.
Read moreThey changed the menu in October 2024, and no longer have a vegan or vegetarian entree option, and the beans are no longer vegan - you will need to request that specifically.
You go to Casa Bonita for the atmosphere and the shows, not the food. Eat beforehand and don't expect an entree if you go now.

Surprised it was good! - Edit
Didn’t go for the food, but it was good! Multiple vegan options if you ask. Anything that didn’t ruin the experience was going to be okay, but this exceeded expectations.

Okay Food, Wonderful Experience - Edit
The menu basically has one entree that can be made vegan, and the included dessert is vegan; former does the trick, latter is fried and tasty. But if you’re going here, it’s to watch all the kitschy and fun performances by cliff divers/magicians, get caricatures drawn, and wander around some strange spaces.

Cons: One vegan entree
