This was just around the corner from my hotel and I was so hungry when I arrived after lots of travelling so I headed straight out for a late lunch. It was a funny place with quirky decor but the staff were really helpful and friendly.
Read moreMy waiter suggested the tacos so I took his suggestion and was a bit confused by the large deep fried food that arrived. It was really tasty and filling, just not what I was expecting (I later found out that Costa Rican tacos are different to Mexican ones!). They were a little bit too greasy for me - nice at the time but the grease made me feel a bit ill later in the day. I would have definitely gone again and ordered something else though if I had had more time in San Jose.

Wow! I visited Capra on my first night in San José, as it was only down the road from my accommodation. My Spanish isn't the best, but the staff (Alejandra and Jorge) made me feel super comfortable. The food was amazing - and, as they told me, all made with local produce, which makes a nice change. I am definitely going to visit again, when I am next in San Jose. ¡Qué tesoro escondido!

We got the special of the day, which was soup and a bowl with rice, lentils, vegetables, and fried yucca. The flavors and the placement of that food was phenomenal!!!! Honestly, the food was some of the best I ever had. I could tell right away that whoever made this was a professional, because there was so many different flavors, but placed in a way that accentuated each taste.
Read moreThe owner is very friendly and very young. The only thing was is that I would want bigger portions. As a vegan, I am used to really big portions. However, I was very hungry that day, so maybe that is why I maybe wanted more.
The extra big appetite led me to eating the cinnamon roll. I haven’t had cinnamon roll in a long time, so that blew my mind. Get the cinnamon roll!!! You will thank me.

lovely little vegan cafe in San José - Edit
This restauran is in a great location of San José. It is adjacent to an Automercado, and cafe Suiza. The cafe is completely vegan, and the chef makes all dishes fresh to order. They even serve Follow Your Heart cheeze!. The food is incredible, and so are the staff. The bowl of the day is probably the best option. The cafe is so small, that you should be lucky if you get a place to sit!

So we actually came by to get the rice casimir that we saw on many pictures. Therefore we were a bit disappointed to hear that they only have one bowl, their special of the day. It changes from Lunch to Dinner and of course everyday. It was really deliciuos and at a very fair price (3000 Colones). One of the two spoke english very well and was friendly. Make sure to take your credit card with you, as they didn't have a lot of change at least when we were there. Nice lounge to sit outside and charming ambiente.
