Vegetarian cafe at Strathnairn Arts Centre inside Gallery Homestead. Offers a small menu with soup, salad, toasties, pies, cakes, coffees and juices, all made in-house. Clearly labelled vegan options. Plenty of outdoor seating for sunny days; open fire indoors for cold ones. Provides employment and training for migrant and refugee women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Focus on locally grown produce, minimising environmental impact, and zero waste. Woodfired pizza evenings on Fridays, licensed BYO and bookings recommended. Open Wed-Sun 9:00am-4:00pm. Closed Mon-Tue.

Many reasons to love this vegetarian cafe - Edit
This cafe is a social enterprise. It employs mostly refugees as staff to give them English practice, unusual shift hours to fit their various schedules, and an Australian job and skills they can put on their CVs. The staff are warm and professional. Beyond this awesome feature, the food is absolutely delicious every time. They release seasonal menus, but tend to carry multiple items that are vegan or can be made vegan such as gluten free pancakes, fritters or rosti, mushroom pies, congee and a rustic porridge with variations on flavours, as well as toasties with fillings like kimchi, green reuben, and potato masala. They also serve breakfast standards, and have a kids menu with healthy options and reasonable prices to fit the portions. They carry an array of hot and cold drinks (coffee, chai, herbal teas, smoothies, juices), multiple plant milk options, and a case of delicious vegetarian cakes, cookies and brownies such as tahini banana bread and cardamom carrot cake. During the warmer months they hold pizza nights out back (gluten free crust is fantastic) with various local musicians providing a soundtrack for the gorgeous view out over the NSW hills. I would eat there twice a week if I could!

Quiet escape - Edit
The food here is as lovely as the surrounding area. Bring a book, choose a sunny seat outside or by the fire inside, and soak in the silence.
