The menu features a completely separate vegan section, offering plant-based adaptations of popular dishes like Pad Thai with tofu, fried rice with crispy plant meat, and various curries. Western options include vegan pizzas with plant-based cheese and bacon, spaghetti bolognese with plant-beef, and a unique Dutch tomato soup served with toasted corn bread. Thank you Café Restaurant Malee for thinking of the vegans!

When I first visited, the vegan options were quite limited, but the owner personally came out, spoke with me, and graciously offered to customize a dish without fish sauce, doing so with genuine warmth and care.

When I returned the following year, something quite surprising and remarkable happened. While I was eating at a nearby restaurant--Tito's, the owner recognized me, welcomed me back, and shared that our earlier interaction had inspired him to experiment, learn, and ultimately create an entire plant-based vegan menu. That kind of attentiveness and follow-through is so rare in today's world, and so moving.

This evening I dined there once more, and thoroughly enjoyed the vegan pad Thai with tofu, which was thoughtfully and artfully prepared and quite delicious. More than the food itself, it was the intention behind it that made the experience. I will certainly return.

I am touched and grateful beyond words for people who truly go out of their way to make others feel seen, included, and cared for. Thank you ever-so-much for thinking of the vegans, and making us feel welcome.
