I tried the Butter Café for the 1st time after reading the reviews. I decided to try the "Tofu Scramble." I was very disappointed in the meal. The tofu eggs tasted terrible, and the vegan sausage tasted strange. The wheat toast was good, and the seasoned potatoes were okay. The fly's were pesky, and two of them ended in my water glass. Plus there was food left on the table and chair. I don't know if it was an off day for the restaurant, but I wasn't impressed. I doubt, seriously, I'll go back again.

We drove about 20 minutes to grab a late lunch. Checked out the closing time, realized we would arrive around 2:45 (more than enough time for a pick up), and headed there. As soon as I walked in the door (at 2:46). I asked the woman behind the counter if the vegan items were clearly marked. She immediately told me the kitchen was closed, and that we wouldn't be able to get anything unless we wanted to order cupcakes. I was a little thrown, as I hadn't seen a sign indicating that the kitchen closed earlier than the cafe. In fact, she very dismissively turned away 5 other people (outside of my family of 4) before we left. She eventually walked around the corner. Another woman that worked there came in, and asked if we had been helped. I told her we had planned to order from the menu. She said that shouldn't be a problem. I said, "Oh okay. We were just told the kitchen wad closed." She said, "Oh, I am sorry, if you were told that, then it's closed." WTF? Literally, what is the issue? Typically spots close by 3 because that is when the lunch crowd begins to slow down. Who turns away 9 customers 15 minutes before closing (we were the first of the 9 by the way)? There were 5 people visible in the kitchen, and the cafe had several people with fresh meals. Clearly they weren't going to be closing their doors before we would have received our meals to-go! No problem. We found Luckys Taproom & Eatery nearby. It turned out to be delicious, and appeared to have significantly more vegan options. We will NOT be returning here.
