The restaurant is authentic, popular among the local people and always very full. I recommend to make a reservation or just ask if you can share a table.
Food is good and portions are huge. Many vegetarian options available, ask for making the vegan. Try huge and tasty salads or the specialty of the place: spaghetti Napolitana. This vegetarian spaghetti is cheap (1,90€) and actually really good, tomatosauce is well made. So is the pancake filled with leek-sauce (2,90€). Ask to leave the cheese out, if you want vegan portion. Chicbean curry is also really tasty and it might be even vegan?
Always worth of visiting!
Pros: many vegetarian options, authentic and favoured by locals, inexpensive
Since it is lsited here on HC I was expecting more. There were no choices on the menu so I asked the waitress.
"Vegan? Uhm. No. French Fries mabye?"
Luckily it was possible to omit the cheese on eggplant with potato and tomato sauce. (€9.80)
It was really good but greasy. Veery greasy.
Another big con is the big-portioned bolonaise they serve for € 1.80. I love the idea of the cheap student cafe and the place is really neat overall. But I can only imagine where this meat must be from...
ive been to brennessel a few times before and ate just a couple. since i remember, there are not many vegan options (i had hummus and potato wedges). but its a common student place - nice inexpensive and busy.
