Good option for a quick bite. - Edit
I have been to BBL as few times for there now famous vegan lorne sausage sandwich.
Read moreAlthough primarily a takeaway there is quite a few seats. I also know they have started to increase the vegan options. if you are here during the edinburgh festival, this is right opposite the Pleasence courtyard and a god send.
Very aware of vegan needs and really trying to raise their game.
Another visit pre Festival, basic but good.
Pros: vegan lorne sausage, staff, location
Cons: meat

Solid breakfast - Edit
All day vegan breakfast as solid, taste was good and portion size as well. Not many seats available and atmosphere wasn't too cozy. Good if you are with non vegan friends and on your way to arthurs seat. I've seen better looking vegan full breakfasts though, the one at black rabbit looked really nice and had more options than the one here

Lots of vegan options - Edit
Got the big breakfast and my friend got the haggis toastie! Amazing food and huge portion sizes. They ran out of something and replaced it with the vegan lorne.

Allergic reaction due to incorrect ingredient information - Edit
My friend is allergic to pumpkin. So when we ordered, we asked if there was any pumpkin in the food. They said no. During the meal, my friend had an allergic reaction. It was quite severe, so he had to take an antihistamine and we were about to call an ambulance. When I confronted the waitress about it, she continued to deny it. Even when I showed her the pumpkin seeds, she said that they weren't pumpkin seeds, but perhaps barley. As my friend was feeling so ill that we quickly left and went home, I didn't discuss it any further. I strongly advise anyone with allergies not to eat here and hope that such establishments are closed down and such criminals punished.

Best haggis! - Edit
We passed by accident and luckily we die so as we had our best vegan haggis experience there! We had 3 different haggis that day but we both liked it there the most! They also make their own vegan sausage and it is really worth a try!

Can't miss - Edit
We almost didn't come here but I'm so glad we made the stop before heading out. They make their own vegan sausages and they were SO good. We got the ultimate vegan Scottish breakfast and they were out of vegan bacon but I was glad cause they gave us their vegan Lorne sausage instead which was delish. The haggis was awesome as well. Luckily their one table was free so we could eat there.

Best veggie sausages of my life - Edit
All the vegan meat is homemade, and it was so lovely to try vegan black pudding. Would really recommend as a nice breakfast spot and they sell their products too :))

Best Vegan Breakfast - Edit
Stumbled upon this deli/cafe in Edinburgh and so glad we did. Home of Scotlands first Vegan Lorne sausage (square sausage). I had the ultimate Vegan breakfast and my family had the Vegan lorne bap. My breakfast was fantastic! It came with two sausages, lorne sausage, haggis, black pudding, baked beans, toast and potato scone. Nothing fancy just good old fashioned Scots breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast/brunch. Highly recommended!!

Delicious breakfast - Edit
We had the full vegan Scottish breakfast. It was really delicious. The sausages were really tasty. And it includes a vegan Haggis. Highly recommended. It's worth 5 stars. Location is more like a fast food restaurant but the food is really delicious.

Expensive for what it is - Edit
Used to love this place but prices have crept up and quality has gone down. A small breakfast was £7.50 takeaway (£9 sit in). They'd run out of mushrooms so got a hash brown instead, but looking at other pics, they must have been low on tomatoes, beans and haggis too as we only got tiny amounts! I feel quite ripped off! Not any better than a breakfast anywhere else. Sausage is tasty though!

Great place for breakfast - Edit
Super delicious vegan options. Hat the big vegan breakfast and loved it with every bite. Also have oat milk for coffee. Limited places to sit and you have to pay 20% extra for sitting in but it was totally worth it😄

Amazing vegan breakfast. - Edit
This little cafe has a good vegan menu, at least 6 to 8 options on it. We ordered a small version of their breakfast which had sausage, haggis, tattie scone, beans, toast, mushrooms and sausages. It was gorgeous and my first time having vegan haggis.

pretty good breakfast - Edit
This place is pretty good and has outdoor seating, so it’s a nice place to go when the weather is pretty. I had the vegan breakfast, and while I liked it, it wasn't my favorite. Also, their vegan menu is pretty small, which was unfortunate.

The food was alright, but a bit dry. Employees are nice, but it's not the best place to chill around for breakfast. I'd love to live near there and grab some of the stuff they sell in bulk for my own place.

… if I could. We’ve come here for years, always friendly service, always cracking food, always a bit of banter. We get their Christmas hamper too and it’s amazing that they homemake all their vegan ‘sausage and meat’ products. Bit off the beaten track but absolutely worth the walk / drive.
