Maybe it’s because they were out of tofu scramble when I was there but I found the food incredibly mid. I got the falafel sandwich, it was edible but not good. It was one giant falafel and so wet and mushy throughout. The tahini was also weird, tasted like it was mixed with soy sauce. But the veggies on the sandwich were fresh and good, and the coffee was decent. I wouldn’t necessarily go back for the food, but the vibe was a trip and at least they had vegan options.
The tofu scramble is vegan as long as you get the bread dry (without butter/margarine). Tofu has a nice curry flavor and is mixed with mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli and potatoes! Very happy and impressed that a diner like this has a vegan option😄
My mom and I took a trip to her hometown of Bennington, VT, and she hadn’t set foot in this diner since 1977. When I saw they had vegan options, we simply HAD to go! She said it hasn’t changed a bit and it’s still exactly as it was. It’s small, charming, and packed with friendly locals! The service was excellent, we felt right at home.
There were multiple vegetarian options that can easily be made vegan. They have a “veggie” section on their menu. They also had veggie-forward specials listed on their wall! And listed on their breakfast options on the front page of their menu is the Tofu Scramble, which is vegan as-is, just ask for dry toast! (no butter)
The Tofu scramble was delicious, I added green hot sauce (they have a generous selection haha) and some salt. The turmeric and curry-seasoned scramble is packed with soy sausage and veggies and was served with potatoes. Extremely satisfying and nourishing.
It was almost emotional to not only be a part of this memory with my mom, but to feel included with this delicious meal. Whenever I go to a non-vegan diner, I end up settling with hashbrowns and fruit, and feeling hungry an hour later. This food filled me up and satisfied me for the whole day of adventuring through Bennington!
I couldn’t recommend supporting this business enough. Locally owned and operated small businesses are the way to go! I will definitely be back for the tofu scramble and I would love to try the other veg options as well!

So surprised - Edit
I can't believe I didn't know Blue Benn had such an extensive veg menu! I tried the blueberry almond pancakes and they were good.
