Good spaghetti bolognese - Edit
It’s not a cheap place but we were happy with the quality, taste, and quantity of the pasta. It’s a dedicated vegan option so that’s nice!

Outstanding service (and fondue!) - Edit
Some of the friendliest service I've had at a restaurant in a long time. We were made to feel very welcome by the host, the waitress and the owner even came out and greeted each table.
Read moreMy husband ordered the cashew based fondue, which was absolutely delicious! We had previously tried a vegan fondue in Geneva which still gives us nightmares so this felt like redemption haha!
I ordered a Thai red curry with tofu, stir fry vegetables and rice. It was really wholesome and tasty.
Other options on the menu included a spaghetti Bolognese, green bowl, burger and veggie rice pan.
We met another lovely vegan couple in there who enjoyed the Bolognese!
An overwhelmingly positive experience. We left with a lovely warm feeling! Would definitely recommend visiting during your visit to Grindelwald.

NOT AS MUCH CHOICE AS OTHER REVIEWS SUGGEST - Edit
Maybe a bit strange to place a review since I chose not to eat here. I went here fully excited by the lovely dishes on this app. Unfortunately, there weren't that many choices, and especially not the special ones I was so excited to try. On the menu, I saw a vegan cheese fondue with disappointing dippables, spaghetti Bolognese, a pokebowl and a rice dish. The minimum price they ask for 1 of these dishes was 35,- . That was too expensive for my taste, since I could make these dishes easily for just a fraction of the price.

Amazing meal! Loved their vegan fondue! - Edit
They have quite a bit of vegan options. I got the vegan “no cheese” fondue (cashew based) & red Thai curry. The fondue was SO GOOD and came with bread and potatoes. I do wish it came with some pickled veggies like some other fondue spots serve. We also tried the vegan fondue at Lulu in Zurich but this was leagues better. The red curry was pretty good and very comforting.

VEGAN FONDUE - Edit

good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes - Edit
On the main street in the center with the possibility of sitting outside. They have a larger selection of dishes for vegans and vegetarians. Friendly staff. They were willing to adjust my food to my wishes without any problems. The food was good, but I think it's more expensive, I paid 50CHF for salad and risotto. Vegetarian dishes are marked on the menu with a note, so you don't have to study everything carefully. I'm attaching photos of the menu with their selection.

Good options! Vegan fondue!!! - Edit
Barry’s has a super cozy atmosphere with twinkling stars and warm lighting which was really nice. The staff were super friendly and kind as well! I got a tofu skewer which was just okay. It had hummus as a base and then the skewer itself had only 3 pieces of tofu and a few vegetables. It was lacking some seasoning and just didn’t feel like a complete meal. Kind of pricey for the amount of food given. I totally regret not getting the vegan fondue and would come back sometime to try it if I were back in Grindelwald as the staff and atmosphere were great😊
Read moreUpdate: Just went back to Barry’s to try the vegan fondue and it was AMAZING!!! It’s cashew based and is seriously so so good. The fondue is a must, highly recommend. Additionally got the salad bar option and there was lots of great toppings, it was great😊💗🫕

Amazing vegan fondue and special dessert - Edit
The vegan fondue was amazing! We also had a veggie burger without cheese and it was good. There were other vegan options like red curry and tofu skewers with hummus. We went for my birthday (I wrote this in the comments of my reservation) and they didn’t have a vegan dessert but they managed to find/make one in 20 mins to make a special birthday for me😄highly recommend!!!

Amazing! - Edit
Barry's has a special menu with three unique vegan options. We had the potato gratin (made with oat milk) served with a large helping of tofu drizzled with pesto, tomatoes and baked basil leaves. It was the best vegan meal I've had in a long time - absolutely delicious. I even considered ordering a second!😄 My son (aged 7) loved it too. No vegan options on the desert menu, but the gelato place next door has some vegan options, including a very yummy watermelon sorbet.

Three marked vegan main dishes now. Expensive even for Switzerland - Edit
Their vegan section now lists baked pumpkin, roulade and quorn stroganoff. Check what the double leaf symbol means, probably only vegetarian, so not sure about starters. Really expensive with CHF 38 for the quorn stroganoff.

Temper your expectations… - Edit
I mostly am posting this to temper expectations of vegans visiting Grindelwald, as Barry’s has been regarded to be the best spot to get a vegan meal. There are, apparently, only two vegan options on the menu - a veggie burger if you remove the mozzarella and pine nut basil sauce, and a tomato pasta with vegan meatballs - and I ordered the burger.
Read moreFirst, they brought me a cheeseburger instead of a veggie burger without the cheese and sauce. The upside is they gave me a complimentary beer for the mistake.
When the veggie burger finally arrived, it was super disappointing. It was a gummy store bought patty - their menu description makes it sound homemade - with tomato and lettuce. That’s it. It was pretty dang expensive for a burger I could buy at the grocery store and cook better at home.
The fries were good and the beer was good. I’d come back for the ambiance (cozy tavern) and to try the pasta, because other options in Grindelwald are SLIM. That’s the only reason.
