"We don't do vegan options"

After finding no vegan options on the iPad ordering system, we asked a staff member. She went away and came back with "sorry, we don't do vegan options." She didn't seem to have any confidence so to be safe we just left.

Pros: Clean and spacious

Cons: No vegan options

BamBeautiful

Visited here today with my non-veg mum. She was excited about a dim-sum restaurant that also offered lunch combos and noodle soups, so off we went. I've been to BamBamBoo before but I was a pescetarian back then, so today was my first time trying their vegan offerings.

I ordered the shallot noodles in sweet soy sauce and shared the salt and pepper tofu with mum. We both agreed that the chefs definitely know what they're doing! The steamed greens still had a nice crunch to them that's often lost if they're oversteamed. The noodles had a nice chewy but thick texture. Wasn't sure if they were hand-pulled but certainly tasted that way! And the salt and pepper flavour really came through in the tofu's batter.

Cherry on top was friendly servers and decent serving sizes for the price. My serving of shallot noodles only cost $9.90 and was a full meal by itself. The lunch combos and noodle soups are worth it for the price in my opinion. I can't really say the same for the dim-sum, although it becomes more value for money if you're splitting the bill amongst a larger group of people.

For travellers visiting Perth, BamBamBoo's central location is great. Not so easy parking wise, but there's plenty of public transport close by. I personally believe BamBamBoo is one of the better dim-sum restaurants in the Perth/Northbridge area, keeping in mind that vegans have quite a few options around that part of town. Worth a visit in my opinion, although the lunch combos are probably better value for money.

Pros: Fast service, Friendly waitresses, Full sized meals are decently priced

Cons: Dim-sum is pricey

Ordering process from Hell

The food here is fine, not bad, not great.
But the ordering process is an absolute nightmare. You use a clunky program on one of 4 iPads tethered to a bench. Then you turn around and pay a person at a counter you could just as easily have ordered from, but you must use the ipads. They alert you when your order is ready by messaging your mobile, but the music was up too loud for us to hear the message tone.
Super frustrating, not tasty enough to justify the messing around.

Pros: Vegan options, Licensed, Central location

Cons: Ordering is a HUGE hassle, Not cheap

Delicious and quick!

I’ve been here a number of times and really enjoyed it each one. The ordering process is really quick and easy on iPads which I like. The salt and pepper tofu is a must have - soooo delicious! Also liked the greens and veggie dumplings.

Amazing vegan options

A bustling little dim sum / noodle place. We ordered lots off the vegetarian menu which is all vegan anyway. The food was fresh, very tasty, came out super quick and was surprisingly cheap. Loved the feel of the place and the modern way of ordering through ipads.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, amazing flavor!, Affordable$

Good but too oily

I tried the fried vegetable dumplings & the stir fried noodles. It was good but to much oil for me. I tried asking before I ordered if they could use less oil but they said no.

Next time I will try the steamed dumplings.

Pros: Nice decor, Central

Cons: Too much oil
