A wonder of its kind - Edit
How wonderful to have a completely vegan bakery offering such a wide range of cakes, sandwiches etc. in a railway station. All the food is completely vegan and, I was delighted to see, it is very busy. This is part of a chain of restaurants which appears to be very successful and long may that success continue. Even if you are not catching a train, it is worth dropping by to sample what is on offer. Highly recommended.

The bakery is located in the SBB train station in Basel. You can buy something to take away or eat in the cozy seating area. They offer sandwiches, sweet and savory pastries, hot and cold drinks, and breakfast items like Bircher muesli. Everything is vegan.

Eine rein vegane Bäckerei direkt am SBB. Das Personal war super freundlich. Das Essen war unglaublich lecker! Wir waren schon mehrmals dort essen und haben viele verschiedene Produkte bereits probiert (Schokocroissants, Nusscroissants, Donuts, Schokotörtchen, vegane Leberkäsebrötchen, Törtchen, Schillerlocken, Laugenbagels mit Frischkäse und Butter, Spinatgebäck, Salate und so viel mehr!).

The place was very cozy and the food tasted really good! I'm always looking for vegan bakeries or cafes with pastries as it is something I don't find too often and really enjoy. Wasn't disappointed, whoever had the idea to mix cookie dough with croissants is a genius!

I'm so happy, that I got lucky and found the place. First I was like "Schnitzelbrötchen, oh I have to ask, whats vegan, and what not", but turns out: Everything is vegan - the donuts, croissants, brezeln and sandwiches. When I ever Return to basel, I hope Bakery Bakery is still there and I will try more.

Delicious vegan treats right in the train station - Edit
We were looking forward to Bakery Bakery before arriving in Basel since it’s all vegan and has sandwiches and pastries. Got the sausage roll, schnitzel sandwich and the cinnamon roll and all of them were outstanding. The cinnamon roll was the way I like them, sweet but not too sweet and just the right firmness without being too gooey. The sausage roll has nice flavor but beware, it has mustard inside it so if you’re not a fan, beware. The schnitzel was nice and the red cabbage with whatever dressing it has on it was outstanding. You can eat inside or go to the takeout window. Whether you’re arriving or going elsewhere in the train station, it’s worth a visit for sure

This entirely vegan bakery offers ample vegan products ranging from freshly baked pastries, rolls, sandwiches, drinks, yogurts, prepackaged cheese and more. I had a sausage roll and a crookie on site and a cinnamon roll to take away. Everything was delicious and the cherry on top is that the staff is multilingual and friendly! I’m absolutely returning next time I’m in Basel.

Not Just for the Station: A Must-Visit in Basel - Edit
Bakery Bakery in Basel is an absolute gem. I went there on a friend’s recommendation to try their cheese quiche, and wow! 🤩 worth the trip alone! Creamy, rich, and perfectly baked, it honestly stole the show.

🥐 Chocolate croissant – packed with a lot of chocolate sauce, indulgent and delicious.
🥨 Pretzel croissant – a fun twist, soft inside with that savoury touch. Freshly baked!
🍩 Cinnamon roll – generous filling, sweet, sticky, and superb.
🥪 Schnitzel sub – with a fresh, lovely salad filling that balanced it perfectly.
The bakery itself is tucked away on the first floor (just head up the escalators).
It’s Switzerland, so don’t expect it to be cheap, but everything I tried was worth every franc. If you’re in Basel, don’t miss it.

This branch of Bakery Bakery is in the train station. We ordered from the takeaway window, but there was an additional counter and seating for dining in. It had the same baked goods as other branches we visited in Zurich and Bern. Here's what we tried.
Read moreLauch speck strudel: it had too much leek and not enough speck (ham?) for my liking. The pastry was nice though.
Cheese tart: this is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The pastry was rich, crisp, and crumbly. The filling was delicious, really creamy and cheesy. It felt like a really high quality vegan cheese. Absolutely divine.
Cinnamon snail: the cinnamon flavour and filling was really nice, a bit nutty, very sticky. The pastry was nice, but note that this is a snail that is more like a pastry than a bread.
Chocoggigipfel: this croissant filled with chocolate was more bready than pastry. The chocolate cream inside was absolutely delicious, really rich and thick. It was very tasty.

Such a fabulous range of delicious breakfast baked goods, prettily served. Pleasant and clean premises, super convenient at the SBB station. Very reasonable prices. Got my take away lunches here too and there are snacks and drinks to onboard if you’re a travelling vegan. If you live here, lucky you!

Damit waren die Preise dann okay. Die Sachen waren beide sehr fruchtig, allerdings auch total überzuckert.
