Have brunch at Ataya Caffe – It’s a must - Edit
I’ve read so many good reviews and seen such great pics about Ataya Caffe that I told myself I’ll have to try this out, though I am not a veggie or even vegan.
So I made a reservation for the green breakfast buffet and visited this café with my hubby who wasn’t very much delighted when hearing that we’ll have a vegan brunch! But he said nothing in order to please me and just went along.
When I opened the door to this café, my first thought was “OMG, it really looks like a living room” and instantly felt like home. The owner, an Italian lady, welcomed us with a huge smile, which made me feel even more comfy. The buffet was fab! I tried all dishes and liked every dish – most of all the samosas with a superb filling. I have to confess that I didn’t think of meat at all during this 1,5 hour – which is not typically me! My other half even said that it was good. Everything was fresh and of very high quality. The baked tomatoes where full of flavour and tasted like those I grow in my garden.
I absolutely recommend it!
Pros: cozy atmosphere, fab vegan food, high quality

buono e confortevole - Edit
Ho pranzato da Atayacaffe con dei clienti. Ho preso una specialità del giorno, un couscous senegalese, favoloso! Gli ingredienti sono freschi e genuini e si capisce che è fatto tutto con amore. Molto consigliato!
Pros: bio products, handmade

nice vibe but not a huge selection - Edit
AtayaCaffe has a very cosy, authentic, and family-friendly vibe about it, with an assortment of mismatched seating, a play area, and good wifi.
In terms of the menu there was a very large variety of hot drinks and nice teas, and a daily changing lunch menu. They also have Italian homemade large biscuit-type things and a fridge of homemade cakes (only some of which are vegan).
On top of the changing menu which included things like ravioli, they have sandwiches that are always available, in bagels, ciabatta, or an Italian bread.
While what I got was nice (a sandwich and a biscuit), I think it was slightly expensive for what you got. I also found the menu disappointingly limited - everything was bread or pasta and there weren't really salads or soups or something not so heavily carb-y. That's just personal preference, but it does mean that I am unlikely to go all the way to north p-berg for a sandwich.
The man at the counter who I think was the (co?) owner was very nice.
Pros: decor, wifi
Cons: price, menu variety

BeNiang 27 Feb 2017 - Dear Yasminesan, we are delighted that you have caught the good vibrations of our coffeehouse, because everything we do, we do with love and attention.
We regret that in the day of your visit were not provided salads as a main course, but this policy answers to one, or, better, two clear choices. The first is related to the seasonal nature of the products we serve. The salad, and almost none of the vegetables needed to prepare a good salad, is in season: to care about the food and the well-being of our customers also means not using products that did not follow the regular cycle of growth and maturation. The second is that a salad, in this cold and wet season, can only further cool the body and cause discomfort instead of well being.
And then we are at 50% Italian, you know? Spaghetti, pizza, mandolins... how can we give up the good bread and good fresh pasta on our menu? In any case, if you had read more carefully the menu of the day, you would have noticed that along with the vegan ravioli with vegetables, like all other meals of the day, is always served a small mixed salad, tasty and balanced.
But we promise that if you will come back to visit us in a few weeks, with the arrival of spring, you will find a rich menu of salads... enjoy you meal!

Great food, nice spot, lovely people - Edit
Not much else to say I am afraid, as the title tells it all. If just wish I lived closer to Ataya to enjoy more often this awesome Afro-Italian fusion cuisine.
If there's really something I should complain about it's the crowd - on a Sunday brunch there was barely space to move, but I guess it comes along with the place being exceptional ;)
Pros: fresh, tasty, home made food, very reasonably priced, staff friendliness
Cons: place perhaps little tiny

Amazing italian-african fusion restaurant - Edit
Just fantastic! Friendly staff, really good atmosphere and the food was incredibile, original and the best fusion between the african and the italian tradition that I could Imagine. I REALLY wouldn't stop to eat and I suggest to try their amazing and high-quality brunch. Also the prices are REALLY low for what you eat. Veganismo, vegetariana, ominvor? That do not matters: you will love Ataya-Cafè and his lovely staff.
Pros: Low price for amazing quality, Italian-african fusion kitchen is a great surprise, HUGE choice for vegan

So close to me! - Edit
So close to me!
She is from Sardinia, he is from Senegal, the result is simply amazing! Wonderful Italian dishes, but with a hint of Africa, or African cuisine with the smell of Sardinia. Excellent vegan cakes, and, of course, Italian coffee,a must in Berlin. And you want to know the most interesting thing? I have just to cross the street!
Pros: excellent food, excellent music, friendly

Unglaublich lecker!
Pros: Excellent Food , Beautiful ambiente, Big portions

This very unique and lovely vegetarian/vegan place in Zelter Str. is a true little gem. The Italian-African fusion food is mouthwatering and full of flavour, the atmosphere super laid back and inviting, and the owners very charming. A perfect place for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or anytime in between when you're in need of a good Italian coffee and a delicious snack.
Pros: scrumptious food with vibrant flavours, nice owners, cozy atmosphere, kid-friendly

Delicious, eclectic food in a cozy, warm setting - Edit
AtayaCaffe is like Berlin: diverse and eclectic in surprising ways, as you may have guessed from mixing African and Italian cuisines. Their vegan Sunday buffet brunch was excellent: Just the right amount of (mostly warm) dishes, with root veggies in creamy peanut sauces, garlic bread and garlic sauteed eggplant or kale, falafel, pastas, and other tasty surprises you won't find in any other Berlin vegan brunch. The decor is casual and cozy, and the hosts are friendly. If you're lucky, you'll hear one of them practicing guitar too. Will definitely be eating there again soon!
