The Best - Edit
One of the best vegan meals you can get, anywhere. So many great choices. Indulge and ask for recommendations from the staff. They are passionate about the food as well the extensive natural wine selection. Don’t skip on the dessert!

Like literally nothing you’ve ever tried - Edit
The food was so SO amazing. I am so glad my family decided to stop by. Every dish had so many different flavours that came together so well. I’d highly recommend the Smażone pierogi, the kotlet selerowy and the kopytka

Unique Fun Atmosphere - Edit
This was a great find! They were very covid safe, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They shared their recommendations and information about ingredients. The food is super fresh and perfectly seasoned. We ordered a combo of freshly made pirogies and some cauliflower bread portobello sandwiches. It was worth every penny. It was an enjoyable experience. #Veganuary

Wow - Edit
Went for dinner with friends and we tried most of the menu. Everything was incredible. I don’t love the “order at a counter when you walk in the door” process but it works here — mainly because even if you panic and rush your order, you’ll still get an incredible meal!

The vegan polish food options at Apteka are delicious! I had the pierogi and the cauliflower stew and loved both of them. I also tried an excellent orange wine cocktail. The staff were friendly and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere!

Hearty and delicious - Edit
Stopped into town and saw a vegan restaurant with pirogies and had to stop. Delicious!! The pirogies were crispy, full, and with so many delicious toppings to pair with it. We tried several dishes and all were fantastic, notably the danish. Fairly priced and so surprisingly vegan that I had to double check it was all dairy and egg free.

We got the sampler and the sandwich from the take out menu. The sandwich was really good and so was one of the two types of pirogies. The sample was alright. The cake and ice cream were excellent.

I have travelled near and far and never been to something quite like this place. Hip, trendy, amazing food, reasonable portions. After trying everything my faves were the stuffed cabbage and pierogi, but you can’t go wrong here.

Yummy, great place for a fancy dinner - Edit
I bring all my out of town friends here. The menu is mostly dishes where you can’t tell they’ve been veganized - not much fake meat, just great dishes where the meat doesn’t seem to be a central part of the deliciousness. Non-vegans are always impressed. Vegans- well, it’s a local staple for us.

Exceptional - Edit
We had a great time. It’s off the beaten track, but we scored a perfect parking spot. The space is modernish and clean. The staff were on point. The food was just extraordinary. We had hot tea, black currant soda, some sort of rich, wonderful bread, stuffed cabbage, pierogi and kutlety....which came with sides of cucumber salad and beets. The dice and slice on everything was so fine, the sauces (esp the horseradish sauce) were so savory and fine. Really, really great. I hope we come back to Pittsburgh so we can come back. More locals should know what an exceptional treasure they have in Apteka.

Nice place - Edit
The restaurant is in an old garage with modern interior. It’s a perfect spot for a dinner date when they dim the light and leave the table lamps on. This place is a perfect fit for young college crowd.

How do they do it? How do they have this quality of umami-rich, unique, magical, lovingly thought out, authentic food for those reasonable prices? I just shake my head. EAT HERE.

Amazing!! All vegan polish restaurant - Edit
So luckily I went with a friend and we tried like 5 things on the menu, the stuffed cabbage was hands down the best. The sauce it comes in is unbelievable. The pierogis were also delicious but I didn’t like the horseradish sauce that came on top. We also got the “special sandwich”, and both of the desserts, the poppyseed cake and the apple tart, both delicious. Cute restaurant, nice music and atmosphere and unique dishes as well as cocktails

We were really looking forward to dining at Apteka during our trip to Pittsburgh and it did not disappoint! We arrived a bit after 5PM on Saturday and it was already getting busy. The girl at the front was very friendly, and helped us with the menu.
Read moreWe ordered the kanapki, pierogi, and an amazing roasted eggplant sandwich that was on special that evening, as well as the Slivovitz and rosehip cocktail and an iced tea. Everything was incredibly delicious, with flavours that you don't often encounter in vegan cuisine. The sandwich was particularly good - the bread was really nice and soft, so it was satisfying without being too filling.
Given the amount of food we ordered, the bill was very reasonable. Would love to come back next time we're in Pittsburgh.

Amazing! - Edit
This is really an amazing restaurant, all vegan. If you thought Polish food was all potatoes and kielbasa, you’ll be surprised by the varied menu and creative takes on traditional dishes. A beet and yogurt chilled soup for starters, potato dumplings with braised greens and a lima-bean sauce, pierogis filled with sauerkraut or smoked cabbage, served with beet chutney and cucumber salad — all delicious. Several items are gluten-free. Beer and wine are available. Pleasant staff.
