The perfect post-museum wine spot

We fired up happy cow after leaving the fascism resistance museum (highly recommend!) and saw this. We walked past it a couple of times as it is a classic tiny wine bar. They managed to fit us in despite us having no reservations and the staff were very helpful in explaining the various wines and food options.

We were able to taste a variety of green wines (Portuguese specialty and personal favourite) to a slightly bizarre soundtrack of traditional Portuguese and Japanese city-pop music, punctuated by the rattle of the iconic Lisbon trams passing just outside.

There were unfortunately no vegan starters available but the humorously-named ‘fakeburger’ was one of the best I’ve had. Its flavour is also unique enough to set it apart from the blur of ‘vegan burger’ options we often settle for on group trips.

The single vegan option here serves principally to make this cultural experience accessible over attracting dedicated vegan diners but the quality far exceeds expectation!

Pros: Accommodating staff, Brilliant location (with views of the trams), Extensive Portuguese wine options

Cons: No vegan starters (usually some are available), Only one option, Limited condiments (just vegan mayo)

Yummy little wine bar

Stumbled across this place as my partner (Omni) wanted to experience some more traditional food in historic Alfama.

Only has the one vegan starter and main - but it has a small menu anyway. The burger (comes with chips) was soo incredibly tasty, it didn't just feel like the traditional rubbish sometimes we are given. The mustard vegan mozzarella is so delicious, and they also have a clearly labeled vegan wine.

Staff really friendly and knowledgeable about other local eateries for vegans

Pros: Staff friendly , Tasty, Vegan wine!

Cons: Small menu
