Serves meat, vegan options available. Thai food restaurant. Uses veggie stock in the soups, and meals can be made without shrimp paste or fish sauce upon request. Be sure to specify if you want veg/vegan. Open Mon-Sun 5:30pm-10:00pm.
Best Thai I've had outside of Bangkok. A whole page of vegetarian options, most of which are vegan or veganisable. The Tofu Makhru is to die for (ask for it well done), the Pad Thai is divine (and tastes like Bangkok street Pad Thai!), the soups (especially Tom Yum and Tom Ka) are droolworthy, and the salads (especially the Yum Tofu) are fresh and deliciously zingy. Even the coconut rice is the best I've ever had! The flavours in the food here are so perfectly balanced that I could eat here every day.
The staff (especially the manager, Tic) are also absolutely brilliant – kind, warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They also go out of their way to make things vegan friendly, including sourcing alternative pastes (e.g., curry and tom yum) that are vegan, being flexible in making things vegan, knowing the menu well, being willing to check with the kitchen about specific questions, and being open to suggestions.
Everything is very reasonably priced, the ambiance is lovely, and they have a good range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.
This is hands-down the best vegan-friendly place for miles and I can't recommend it highly enough! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Aksorn is a reasonable option for Thai food in Diamond Creek, however the Vegan choices are somewhat limited.
Entrees:
The Papaya salad salad can be made Vegan by omitting the egg but the curry puffs, spring rolls and roti are bought in and all contain animal products. The bean curd soup can also be prepared Vegan.
Mains:
Most of the vegetarian mains can be made Vegan however it is well worth checking with staff at the time of ordering.
We enjoyed the Mussaman Curry but found the Pad Khing Toa Fu on the bland side.
On the plus side, the owners were helpful in outlining their limitations prior to our visit.
Limited Vegan options. The Pad khing tofu dish was very bland, but the vegetables themselves were nicely prepared. The Mussaman pak was worth the visit.
