Satisfying Vegan Gelato and Waffles - Edit
I’ve read good reviews for Affogato and that they offer vegan waffles! So, I had a Build Your Own – Waffle with 2 Vegan Gelato Scoops [£4.50]. First of all, I think that Is really quite cheap! I can’t quite remember which flavours I got (Speculoos & Banana Cinnamon if I’m not mistaken), but I remember they were being flavourful. The gelato was creamy but not that thick, so it did melt really fast on the waffle. The vegan waffle was pretty good too, crisp edges and soft & crumbly on the inside, but too sweet for me.
Read moreThe place is quite spacious for a dessert place, with a good number of tables and seats. It is simple and rustic in décor that is mainly of wood, giving it a cosy and casual vibe. Affogato also has petite fours, cakes, hot drinks and other waffles. Solid gelato (Vegan ones I tried) and satisfying waffles with good service.
Pros: Well Priced, Good Selection of Vegan Gelato, Friendly and Cosy Vibe
Cons: Service was a bit slow

Sweet option - Edit
Unfortunately I didn't get to try the waffles (no demand for it in "hot" weather), gelato was delicious though. Place seems small but cosy, prices seem reasonable for Edinburgh.
Read moreI'll just need to come back in winter for the famous waffle goodness.
Pros: Good amount of vegan options

Lovely innovative vegan ice creams - Edit
I tried their ice cream at a vegan festival and it was lovely. A pairing of chilli chocolate and coconut ice creams was a perfect experience. The chilli chocolate was really quite fiery, but perfectly balanced by the coconut. A very good recommendation from their staff after I requested the chilli chocolate!

VEGAN WAFFLES! Need I say more? - Edit
I went to Edinburgh for a 3 day trip and went here for a late lunch/snack on the second day.
Read moreIt's off one of the busy main streets so quite easy to find.
When you walk in there is a giant fridge container with all the gelato, and can easily tell you which are vegan. Normally 5-6, including some sorbets.
They make the vegan waffles on a separate waffle iron to the non-vegan waffles.
You choose the vegan waffle base, and add whatever toppings, they have the vegan ones clearly listed, and choose some gelato (If you want. But why would you not?) I got vegan waffles, pecans, maple syrup and dark chocolate gelato, with a side tub of mango sorbet.
The waffles were noticeably softer than the non-vegan (My mum got non-vegan waffles) but you couldn't careless once they were in your mouth. Soft and doughy, mine were super sweet from the maple syrup. I believe they use flaxseed as a egg replacement as the batter had little flecks in it that I assumed was flax. The gelato was creamy and super rich, I'm a dark chocolate lover so I was happy. The mango sorbet tasted like solero, which means it was delicious. It was more creamy and smooth not overly icy like most sorbets.
It was fantastic to see a place like this (Small business) branching out into the vegan market.
My mum and I really wanted to meet Epix, the shop dog, but she had gone home for the day, the lady behind the counter said she's only really there for the earlier part of the day, before it gets busy and too crowded for her.
Pros: The waffles, The gelato, Polite and welcoming staff
Cons: Afraid to say, the toilets.

lots of variety! - Edit
Absolutely love the vegan ice cream. Having been a few times there's always a good selection. Would prefer that the labels told you if there were vegan so you have time to think before ordering if there's a qué. Will definitely try the waffles at some point!

Amazing waffles! - Edit
Boyfriend and I swung by here for dessert and both loved it. They have a ton of vegan gelato options, and a bunch of vegan waffle and topping options. I had a vegan waffle with pecans and salted caramel, and it was amazing! If you really like sweet, you might be good getting a waffle and gelato, but I'm not huge on too much sweet so I just stuck with the waffle. Also be aware even though they say "waffle", you get two so be ready to eat or split!

The vegan waffles are out of this world! - Edit
This place has an awesome bunch of vegan options such as lots of flavors of gelato and vegan waffles with heaps of great vegan toppings!
Read moreThe milky gelato flavors they had that day were speculoos (sweet biscuit) and gingerbread. They also had a bunch of fruity flavors that are vegan. The vegan options weren't marked but the staff knew exactly what was vegan.
I got the vegan waffles with speculoos ice cream, topped with biscuit crumbs and maple syrup. These were the best waffles I've ever had!
They had a sign up saying they often have their dog in the cafe, unfortunately the dog wasn't there when I visited. People are also welcome to bring their dogs into the cafe and if dogs don't get on with their dog in the cafe, they can put their dog in a different section. Very dog-friendly :)
Pros: Helpful staff, Vegan waffles, Good range of vegan gelatos and toppings

Vegan waffles and gelato! - Edit
Affogato just started serving vegan waffles made to order and WOW they are so good! Order it with a scoop of vegan gelato for the best experience. :) They have 18 gelato flavours total and a large selection of vegan flavours. The last time I was in here (a few days ago), their vegan gelato options were: blueberry vanilla, chocolate, speculoos, cookies and cream, raspberry, coconut, lichen rose, and mango. You can also get vegan milkshakes, coffee drinks, vegan cakes and even raw options if you fancy them.
