Fresh and delicious Mexican - Edit
We ordered Tres Tacos and Pozole. We started with the corn “ribs,” which are basically corn on the cob split into quarters lengthwise. The sauces really elevate this appetizer. The tacos were delicious; my favorite was the asada (mushroom) taco. Tacos were small, but they were delicious. Abuelita offers vegan ice cream, and the restaurant features a small apothecary shop. The location is very convenient for guests at Midway Airport hotels on Cicero Ave. (We were staying in one of those hotels)

Fabulous Mexican food - Edit
No junk, just deliciously healthy homemade food, like your mom made. I really enjoyed the Green Eyes smoothie, light and refreshing mint! The mushroom burrito was great, especially the homemade tortilla. Chips and salsa were fresh! The space was very nice, had a big table for large groups. And the few gifts/packaged foods were thoughtfully curated (matcha powder, chocolate bars, dried fruits, body care, rebel cheese, craft kombucha!)

So glad to see it here - Edit
This place is amazing. It is a little more that the local Mexican spot but for what they offer its a great value! They only use the best ingredients and have healthier options . Plus homemade everything ! They also gave a plethora of teas and smoothies. So it's worth a trip even if you don't want a full meal. (Lots of gluten free options too)

Smoothies, Ice Cream, and Entrees! - Edit
Vegan, Healthy, and no refined sugars- and so very good!!!
Read moreIf you’re going to try their ice cream, I absolutely suggest the coffee ice cream 🍨
If you’re in the mood for a smoothie, Cielito Lindo (Cute Little Sky) pineapple, banana, blue spirulina smoothie tastes as amazing as it looks!
And when they asked if I wanted to try the calamari they would be adding to the menu it was absolutely excellent 😍
The proteins/meats they use are mushrooms, coconut, and jackfruit- all perfectly seasoned- and beautifully plated
When they say they created this place to honor their grandmother they truly succeed and plus they treat you like you are a welcomed family member while you are there

Vegan burrito and chips - Edit
I liked the atmosphere. They have a wide variety of food to choose from. I ordered the burrito with birria (jackfruit) and chips with green salsa. I liked the rice and tortilla of the burrito, but the texture of the jackfruit was like pulled pork and didn't have a good flavor. The "meat" options included mushrooms and jackfruit. I wish there was an option for tofu or beans as "meat."

I can’t say enough about how fantastic the entire experience at Abuelita Coco is! The place is beautiful, the food is delicious, and every aspect of their restaurant is crafted with care and respect for tradition and the environment. Plus, the service is as fantastic as the food!! Highly recommended!!

Highly anticipated, but a bit disappointed - Edit
We have been waiting for Abuelita Coco to open since it was announced and we were finally able to visit this weekend. The food is very good overall, but we were a bit surprised that the price for everything that we ordered came out to $100 . I personally had the menudo and thought it was good, but I would have liked a bit more lime for it. I also had the horchata, which I thought was very good, especially since I haven't had it in 5 years! We also had the corn ribs, which were pretty good and unique as well. Lastly, I had the flan, which we thought was good; my best friend said it tastes like store bought flan, so I assume that it was good for her. However, the flan was $16, so that was a bit shocking. Finally, the restaurant is a bit short staffed, which is understandable, but the waiting time was quite long and we were there roughly about 2 hours. So while I think this is a wonderful place, I would likely only return here to try main dishes by themselves or for a special occasion.

Cons: Expensive, Long waiting times (understaffed)

Sadly, these prices are everywhere anymore. Rent, salaries, produce, etc, are insane. It’s going to have an impact on prices.

Fresh, healthy, made from scratch - Edit
Food was delicious and healthy. No refined sugar and everything made from scratch including the tortillas. Friendly service and a great atmosphere. I had the tacos with one of each. My favorite was the Al Pastor.
