Certified Organic shop

This shop has grown and moved nextdoor (from Nr.28 to 26) expanding to a 100m2 surface.
Lots of new products.

Plus, they have now opened "A Horta Bio Bistro" on their "old" shop location (Nr.28) which is definitely worth a visit !

Pros: Vegetarian / Vegan / Gluten Free, Certified Organic only, Good Mood

Cons: Sometimes hard to park nearby

Recomendo – I recommend

De férias em Sesimbra, estava ansiosa para descobrir a oferta da região em mercearias e locais zero waste e vegan. Na minha pesquisa, foi um prazer enorme descobrir A Horta. Fui lá hoje pela primeira vez – a primeira de muitas, durante esta minha estadia – e adorei a oferta desta mercearia. Encontramos vários cereais, aveia com e s/gluten, massas, arroz, frutos secos e farinhas a granel e sobretudo muita oferta de frutas e legumes sem plástico. Foi um prazer conhecer-vos. Um grande até breve!

I'm on vacation in Sesimbra, and I was excited to discover the zero-waste and vegan grocery stores. It was such a pleasure to discover A Horta.

I went there today for the first time, and I'm sure that was the first of many during my stay here because I loved the offer that A Horta as!

Here we found several kinds of cereal, oatmeal with and without gluten, pasta, rice, nuts, and flour in bulk and above all plenty of fruit and vegetables without plastic. See you soon, A Horta!

Pros: Zero waste bulk, fruits, and vegetables, A lot of vegan options

Cons: Bread and pizza in plastic

Great Little Store

A mother and daughter shop, this small organic shop has great selections for fruits and veggies. They also sell bulk items, like nuts and legumes. And they sell fresh baked vegan empanadas with lentils, seitan, tofu, or apples filled inside, and some bread. The vegan sweet potato spelt bread roll is a must try. They do not sell any frozen food, but they do have some refrigerated items like soy yogurt, tofu and seitan. Note that they only accept Portuguese cards; otherwise, cash only. And there is parking behind the building.

Pros: lots of fresh organic produce, friendly staff, good price

Cons: only accepts Portuguese cards
